Sorry for chiming in, I'm currently sitting on the side of the ride after my regear for the break in time but I would just say go 5.29's that way in the future if your build plans change you will already be set on gears i don't see any draw backs of going 5.29's before you need too.

Carlos also told me that they changed their install process on the seals since they started doing this group buy and he said after seeing how peoples trucks are leaking from the driver cv. They are now installing the seals at the end of the process once everything is back on and done. He said since they changed their process from doing it before to after that no leaks have happened anymore.

I was just talking to Miguel about this 5 min ago. I bought the OEM seals for the pinion seals and the axle shafts from Toyota, but he said they use Timken OEM seal kits for Toyota application. This was discussed a bit ago if you search the thread for “Timken”

My point is that I will have them use the Timken seals since there have been good results. Don’t want to mess up their flow.

I would suggest it if you ever plan on moving up tire size. 265's are honestly very small tires. You might be revving a little high on the freeway.

Do you have any plans for 33s or 34s? If so, yes, 5.29s.

I'm on skinny 33s (255/70r17) with 5.29s and OVtune (33 inch tire and 5.29 gear specific file) and I think 4.88 might be the better option if you never plan to go to 35s and are clearly a better option if you never plan to go larger than 265s

Im curious why do you say that? What does the truck do that you think could be better with the 4.88's?

High RPM's at highway speeds is my major complaint.

Edit: it drives perfect below 65, but anything higher and you wish the truck had a 7th gear.

Edit2: probably going with 35s to compensate

I would go with a narrow 35. 35x10.5r17 kenda makes a nice tire in that size. Socalexpeditions(OP) has a whole thread on them.

PWG provides the gear oil for the install, correct? I know original post says price includes part and labor, but just want to confirm. Install is tomorrow and I want to make sure I don't forget anything.

Never really thought of that but it does make sense if you have a lift on the truck why not go a heavier tire closer to 34's. 285/75

First 15 mile cycle with the new gears on the 91, with 285/70s. Maybe I should drive like a granny more often...
