I've been carrying concealed and "hot" for 30+ years...so I know all about that deal.

That's 100% correct. But I believe it's still a best practice to clear any firearm if it's placed up on a counter, table, etc. for whatever reason. A firearm with a loaded magazine inserted is not cleared.

Looking back, I should not have used the term "unsafe"...and just stuck with "clear". There was clearly no danger in this situation.

I'll add, when I'm at my range with multiple firearms, I uncase and place them all up on the lane bench, per the rules. Each one is cleared and has a chamber flag inserted. When I switch firearms, I clear the one I'm using, set it down and insert chamber flag and pick up the next firearm. Overkill...perhaps. The RSO's continually praise me for doing that. I don't have to do that...each one could simply be placed on safe and set down while "hot".

I'm comfortable and confident in my practice of safety.

Just picked it up an hour ago, shooting it Sunday. Feels good though, balanced will add a smaller light and maybe get a slight riser on the red dot. Sits too low for me right now.

Nice! That's the newest, non reciprocating gen right? You mind if I ask how much you snagged it for? Been seeing them go between 700-900 out here private sale.

Agreed. Lot of people killed or maimed from assumptions. If you assume a worst case scenario while handling a firearm then folks (including oneself) are likely pretty safe.

I'm with ya Mark. There's no such thing as too much safety with any type of firearm. Shit, I triple check.

Just added a high mount, much better and more natural. Low mount is a no go for sure

What is it about internet gun owners everywhere thinking every firearm needs to be cleared 5 times on camera and rendered inoperable to be able to appear in photo or video and/or be considered safe?

Gun safety is paramount. But, being that the picture shows no immediate threat to my own life I’ll assume the poster isn’t a complete fuckwit first.

Home Cheapo. And they'll cut it for free.

Pick up some rubber furniture leg feet for the legs. Really helps.

When my father was teaching me, he would say that every firearm is loaded, ESPECIALLY when it isn't. That really makes you think about the consequences of muzzle control.

For the safety sallies, these are a few of the firearms around my house, they managed to be safe for these photos :notsure:
All of these at my bedside are loaded, only the Glock isn’t chambered (for obvious reasons).

In the office, the Ruger is chambered but the AR has the bolt locked back.

And in the couch, kept loaded, chambered, and a spare mag.

I have no children, it’s 2 adults in the house (both are proficient with these platforms), and if we’re entertaining people the obvious items get moved to a more secure location.
