2011 Taco, looking for recommendations for bug shield, and rain guards.

Looking for smoke colored bug deflector, and window rain guards. Thanks in advance.

 

I’ve had WeatherTech In-channel window since 2005.
Swapped them over to my current truck, still going strong.

My last truck had the OEM (2005) bug shield.
Never had a problem, but it could be PITA to clean the hood under it.
I choose not to add one to my current truck.

 

Grab the in channel avs ones from Amazon. Cheap and they look pretty good.

 

X2 for the AVS in-channel window vent visors. 9 years and still going strong.

I have the in channel avs as well and love them.. they came with the truck. I’ve had the weathertechs on other vehicles. Can’t go wrong either way.. be careful with the bug defelctor. Some cause more paint damage then protection lol

 

Do you guys with the in-channel window guards have any issues with aftermarket window tint? My worry is that it could peel the tint since it is now a tighter fit.

 

Went with AVS all 3X , absolutely no complaints!

Avs in channel with tint here as well. Been good for about 4 years now

 

My weathertech in-channel kept popping out of the window all the time. I called them when one finally popped out and got ran over, and they made me buy a whole new set with no discount or anything. That set had the same issues.

I like the idea but in actual practice they don't seem to work for me. Those of you with them do you just never roll down the windows? Or is there some trick to keeping them in?

I had a corner of the tint come loose but I don't think that hase anything to do with the window shades.

 

My weathertechs had 3m tape on the edges to help hold them in place. Been on an Avalon for close to 8 years now without issues and the windows are down Often. I’m not sure if my avs on my taco have tape since they were on the truck when I got it but they hold as well with the windows down at highway speeds.

 

AVS uses 3M tape on both the exterior and in channel mounted models.
Older model Tacoma with the fuzzy covering on the window gaskets required removing the fuzz with a piece of Scotchguard and the contact area wiped with alcohol. New model Tacoma don't have the fuzz and require wiping with alcohol for good adhesion. If I remember correctly the directions require leaving the windows closed for 72 hours after installing.
I have the AVS in channel, Bugflector and rear window sun shield with absolutely no problems. Sun shield makes a HUGE difference from the sun entering the rear of the cab.

 

A caution on the Weather Tech window guards- they have a tight fit in-channel, and may can whizzing-type road noise at your ear during winter time. That along with the latent defect with the door seals, which causes seal rattle and more whizzing noise..again right at your ear..Stick-on type rain guards may actually be the better option for once.

I ended up throwing mine in the recycling bin (I got mine for free though since they had a quality issue on delivery).

 

Hmm. Maybe ill have to try them again with some double stick tape then and see if that helps. I got mine way back in 2009 and don't recall them coming with an kind of sticky on them. I do like the shades they just aggravated me with falling out.

It's made by AVS and is called the "Sunflector Rear Window Sun Deflector."
Google for more info and fitment. Basically it's very similar to the window deflectors. It's domed and covers approx the top 6" of your rear window is affixed with 3M tape and reduces the amount of sunlight coming through the rear window while still allowing the use of your sliding window.
