Fabtech: Yay or Nae?

Krookz truck has made me like fabtech

 

I have the 6'' performance fabtech kit with the adjustible coilovers, installed about this time last year, and I love it! I get compliments on the smoothness of my truck's ride all the time and with the TC UCAs it's a clean, solid lift.

 

I love my 6" but I don't know anything about the 3" from fabtech. If your going for the 3' get king, swayaway, coil overs for a better ride. If your goning 6" fabtech looks like a beefier product than procomp. My brother has procomp on his Tacoma and to me it looks like the fabtech is tougher .

NAE!!! get a real suspension and you'll notice the difference in a second. more travel, better and smoother ride, lasts longer, and doesn't make your truck look like a mall crawler. I have King COs, Dakar leaf springs, TC UCAs. Couldn't be happier

i did my research on here and talked to one of the guys who has a quality set up and he directed me to ICON now i'm abut to place an order for a stage 2 icon lift but with resi shocks. then later when i save up some more dough i will add the uca's. jeremy at icon took the time to talk with me and laid it all out for me both the pros and con's of lifting your vehicle. i believe that icon makes the highest quality lift out there for our trucks but you will pay for it. the stage 2 kit i'm looking at consists of front coil overs with no resi rear shocks with no resi and the rear add a leaf. that rings in at 1,772. now i'm going with this kit but i want resi's on my shocks. because i want to do the uca's and have the complete icon set up. i also did research on fox and king suspensions and also ome. they seem to be the only other choices for lifting a truck the correct way meaning you won't loose any drivabilty or off road capability. just my 2 cents.

 

not to mention the articulation and durability claims these higher end companies can lay claim to. check out tacovendor's build thread he has around 5,000 worth of suspension bits on his truck from icon and its only around a 2/12 lift apparently you do not need to go super tall to have a VERY capable rig. i want to eventually have my suspension set up just like his. i'm going to have icon set up my shocks and spring rates so that they are more adept at load bearing ie carrying weight added to the truck as i plan to add both front and rear bumpers to my truck and a shell in the back along with some gear. now his is a true overland build, but my rig will not be as heavily outfitted as his is. i just like the fact that i can set the suspension up ahead of time to be able to compensate for the added weight the correct way.

Sounds like you did some homework.

IMO there really is no correct or best way to lift these IFS trucks. Some choices are better than others but all the typical lift choices, 3", long travel, DB, body lift, etc. have pro's and con's when you decide to lift.

A lot I think has to do with how you will use the truck.

I have ICON's all around. I don't think it's the best way to lift but it's not the worst either.

Plenty of people hate DB lifts and many more hate body lifts, some even hate long travel because it alters the look of the truck too much and costs too much.

So to be cool you will have to stay at 3" of lift and like it or people will make fun of you if you go higher than 3". Oh almost forgot you also need to rattle can everything flat black, get eyelids, some mod called a sotashispaggetti something or other and debadge.

 

also i have heard alot of complaints when going up to high especially when doing so on a tight budget. cv boot issues, constant abuse to the universal joint and overall vehicle dynamics are poorer for alot of people on here. with the aforementioned icon lift the truck will still align correctly and will actually improve not only the overall ride but the on and off road handling as well.

 

true lol! i have never even played with the notion of lifting a truck until now. changing the geometry that toyota had engineered into the vehicle is not something i'm taking lightly. i will probably go for everything at one shot uca's and all but its big money! close to five grand, but like everything else in life you pay for what you get. shit! a couple weeks ago i was telling my wife i was going to get a spacer kit lol i did not know anything about them but now after doing alot of reading on here i can't justify doing that to my truck. lol i want to enter it into 4x4 truck shows and actually win.plus have some thing i can drive over a boulder to get some giggles out of. idk i'm a snapper head

 

i had looked at your truck at least a dozen times before your setup is fucking hot! thats what i would be going for any more and you start to run into issues either up front or down the road.

 

fabtech does make a new 3" lift. it is their dirt logic coilovers and you can pair them with their uca's as well.

i do not personally have any experience with this kit. but just wanted to throw it out there that not all of fabtechs 3" kits are spacers.

Will have some better shots after this weekend. Just redid the rear end.

I had fabtech on my F150 and it was nice. The finish was great and the fit was perfect. No complaints here what so ever.

 

people under estimate us drop bracket guys

 

i say HELL NO to drop bracket lifts in general... although drop brackets seem to be the only option if your 4x4 and wanting 6". i would much rather go with a nice set of coilovers and UCA's... or spindles if you have a prerunner
