Quick question/request!! I noticed this cable end was disconnected from the valve that controls the flow of water to the heater. It doesn't seem that it would be designed to just slip onto the bare metal arm of the valve, and it didn't show wear like it had been on there. I am assuming that there was probably a plastic piece, that has broken and fallen off. Both the cable and the valve move without issue. Can someone give me an image, that I may go forth to the Pick-a-Part? Since Tacomas are a rarity, I imagine I'll need to find on some other Toyota model. TYIA

Not sure what model your tacoma is but I found a solution that will keep you from having to strap your jerry can's down. Check out their website. Might be helpful. www.tacojerry.com

No plastic parts or anything on mine. The end of the tab has a bend to help hold it on, but that's it.

I was pretty sure the cable end just slides over that tab and just stays connected on its own.
I guess I could see the valve seizing up and then the cable not being able to move it and then sliding off??? I dunno, could just be a fluke or someone disconnected it to mess something and forgot it

Many thanks!! I guess my bracket is just bent a bit, as it was putting a slight bend in the cable. No scavenger hunt for me!!

Also pressed in New rear axle bearings and new axle seals before getting on the road to go pick up the parts. Got 225,000 miles out of my original bearings and seals. Bearings were still super smooth when I took them out! But they had a little more play then I was comfortable with.
