Woo woo! You splitting the bodies and cleaning out the fuel rail and replacing the o-rings on that, too? EDIT: Maybe nevermind? Looks like they might be fed individually?

This was a timelapse I did years ago on my bank of 4 on the CB. They're intense. But so satisfying when it all comes together again.

Cool! I hope I have that same feeling of accomplishment.

Well, everything is squeaky clean and reassembled. I might swap these onto the Ninja tomorrow to see if I did a good job. If so, I can clean my original carbs and set them off the the side. If not, I can put the original carbs back on so I don’t miss the Sunday group ride.

All the jets and trim needles are new, and I also cleaned the passages and actuators for the choke/enrichener.

    Stay tuned!

I went on a 40 min cruise today. I still like the 48, and i need to pay it down a bit before thinking about the Scrambler. Working on that now

Try SEA FOAM. A buddy of mine who has bikes turned me onto it a couple years ago. Worked wonders on the bikes I have run it through.

Double check your passages in the intake side of those carbs. They tend to catch the bits of the foam that comes off the filter. When I have rebuilt these before, any issues I have had come down to either those passages, or having the butterflies not synced up right. I also usually just replace the JIS/Phillips screws with metric hex cap ones while I’m at it too. They tend to not get stripped out as easy.

Carb swap is a complete disaster so far. :pout:

After spending several hours getting the rebuilt carbs installed, I went to start the engine and they immediately began to leak fuel. I guess I messed up the gaskets during reassembly.

So out they came and the old ones went back in... and now it’s running like garbage. Bogging, surging idle, losing power at random times (scary), and the choke is ten times worse now.

My biggest fear is now realized: despite careful planning and tedious effort, I now have an unrideable bike and have no idea what’s wrong with it.

Had to take a break and cool my head off a little.

Carbed motors in bikes/jeeps are a nightmare, I straight up just about pull my hair out. I’m looking into a FI conversion on the Jeep because I’m worn out with constantly tinkering with the carbs

    Yes.
Was going to sell my drz until I looked at the odometer and I’ve only put 300 miles on it in the 4 months of ownership. Just finished up a 150 mile ride and now I’m not selling it :)
