If you wanna try the lightest, tastiest but still 7.7% then this is a contender.

No worries man. I pretty much have it figured out at this point.

Housing if off the truck and cleaned up. I have to replace it. I found 2 cracks in the plastic where the shaft seals go and the little plastic dohickey that holds the o-ring is also broken. Pretty much screwed at this point until i can get another one.

That at least explains all the orange RTV that was on it when I took it off.

Yup, I think a couple times because there was black RTV in a few spots as well. The orange was most recent.

They probably cracked it trying to repair a leak with black rtv on the o rings instead of new orings.

Used on ebay I'm seeing around $250. I think it'd be better to go with the new one at this point so I don't need to worry about shitty plastic again.

Yeah, it sucks. I think I'll take the chance on a used one from ebay right now tho. As long as the housing itself is good, then I should be OK. I know how they come apart now and have documented all the important timing positions with pics. Get the used one and replace the shaft seals and cross my fingers.

I'll still have to take a new one apart tho. They come with the shafts installed and I am not going to drop the case and split it just to install the damn shift motors. Not that I now know how they come apart and go together.

If I'm dropping the t-case, I'm going with the FJ case swap.

I still kinda want to do it in the tundra

but the awd swap is also enticing.
