    102, no clouds and about 60% humidity would guess. My wife and I are taking turns doing yard work so we don't get heat exhaustion. She's drinking Pedialyte mixed with water and I'm hydrating with Shiner Blondes.

    Self defense and nostalgia are kinda opposite. The original 1911 or 1911A1 setup sucks balls for self defense.

    If you want a replica, there is Auto Ordnance, the Turkish clones and the Citadel is pretty close. So is a used Springfield Armory GI model.

    For defense, I would recommend Ruger or Smith & Wesson E-series in the sub-$1000 category. From $1000-1300 I would go for a railed Springfield (Range Officer Operator, Loaded Operator or MC Operator). For under $2000, the best you can get is Dan Wesson (Specialist or Valor) or a used Les Baer.

    9mm will be the least reliable, .45ACP and .38 Super the most with 10mm being just about 100%. Most calibers, including .40 S&W are pretty much sorted at this point, though.

    Magazines are key and stock up on at least 6 per gun, but I would advise at least a dozen. Wilson Combat has a lifetime free replacement policy on their magazines.

    @koditten

    Originally had a motor on it to spin the rotisserie and for whatever reason it was a direct drive to the end of the output shaft. I've thought it would be better to have a chain drive and different sprockets to reduce the strain on the motor. At this point it would take a full sandblast and redo to make this thing worth my time and money and I'd have to come up with some sort of A Frame hoist to load whole hogs in it by myself.

    It's still sitting in her yard waiting for me to drag it over to my place.. I just haven't found the motivation.

    It's charcoal fired.. there a small door on the opposite side of the tongue and he used to literally shovel charcoals out of the bag in there.

    The brackets for the rotisserie part are all angle iron and threaded rod so you splay the hog out and bolt it to the frame and away it goes. The last couple of times he used it he would use a pair of vise grips and manually rotate it then lock it into place after the previous motor burned up.
