Spring inside oil filter cap assembly

    Long story short, I need one. Possibly need to throw something at the dealer I bought my truck from (a Chevy dealer). I need the spring that fits inside the oil filter cap assembly, inside the perforated metal tube that the cartridge goes around. Does anyone know if that is sold separately (part number?) or can anyone confirm that it is in the oil filter cap assembly?

    So here is the long story.

    I was doing the first oil change since buying my Tacoma. The dealer I bought it from "did an oil change" prior to me taking delivery. I am over an hour from a Toyota dealer so I didn't want to drive 100+ miles to get a "free" oil change. I get under the truck today and there is an oil filter wrench hammered into the plastic factory oil filter cap. It was torqued to about 100 ftlbs, I had to use a breaker bar and cheater pipe to make it turn. I take the cap out and while trying to get the wrench off, I dropped the housing and it fell apart. I recovered the perforated tube that goes inside the cartridge, the bottom piece of metal that is the stopper for the cap drain hole, but I thought I saw something else go flying and I am assuming it was a spring. So if that part doesn't include the spring, it won't help me. Current the truck is in the driveway out of oil and without a filter. Fun times.

    Right now, I can't find any photos of a spring existing down there, but I thought one existed.

    A few OE parts from fancy trucks
    If you have an old speaker magnet put it on a rope and drag it around the area you think the spring went (I'm assuming grass or bushes). It's my cheap way to find nails and such after carpentry or roof repairs.

    Of course there are pro magnets on telescoping handles for such things if you have access to borrow one of those somewhere.

    Yeah I tried that, it went into the bushes (if it existed). Had the wife and the dog out looking. It's been a family event so far.

    Get the aluminum one, has all the insides needed...don't worry about that plastic cup or any bits that flew out.
