I downloaded the same and thought we'd have editable 2.0... I can't see it anywhere.

You need your specific ECU tunepack to be able to edit anything other than the stock tune file. Some have not been released yet.

Can I use my VF tuner that I downloaded for my Tacoma to edit tune packs for my 2016 4Runner? Or do I have to use the tuner you just released? Or does the one you just released work with both 4Runner and Taco

Hey... question for y'all. I recently updated my ECU to 04B14 and then last weekend I loaded up OVTune's latest test tune.
    • 04B14+2.0+Rev+Hang+Clutch+Hang.vft
I'm really, really, loving this tune, but my question is about the vF Tuner settings for AGM Batteries.

A little background: I was headed out to the Eastern Shore of the People's Republic of Maryland for the 4th of July weekend and West Marine was having a sale on AGM batteries. I realize that their AGM batteries aren't really designed for automotive use like a Northstar might be, but I picked one up anyway. I was running on the Toyota stock 2016 battery and some TW Folks had me worried that I might have gotten better life than most folks do. Earlier in this thread, folks with AGM batteries noted that they were not getting sufficient charging for AGMs from their alternators. Then we got information from Matt here that this could be adjusted in the vF Tuner. I went ahead and installed the new AGM battery, made the change to the tune, and flashed the ECU. I'm now getting a charge voltage of about 14v as recommended in this thread.

Just out of curiosity, I've started researching charging AGM batteries in cars and I'm not finding a 14v alternator recommendation. I'm actually finding some scary information about overcharging AGM batteries. I've also read that long drives at 14v could overcharge an AGM. I drive 80 miles a day, so now I have my self scared. West Marine's batteries are manufactured by East Penn so I sent them a note to ask about my specific setup, but wanted to check in with folks here to see if you had any additional info or resources on how to best maintain these batteries and if I have anything to worry about. It's certainly possible that I misunderstood what folks were doing and I went down a rabbit hole. I'll share if I hear back from East Penn, but if anyone knows of resources to help justify using and AGM in a single battery setup and setting up the alternator for 14v; then I'd really appreciate access to it.

@OVTune Mat, would you be able to explain the new shifting tables in some detail? There are now 8 primary shifting tables, 2 acceleration shifting tables, and a lone upshift schedule (not counting the ECT shifting) that I see for ECU 04A61. For the stock tune, the 8 primary tables appear to be identical to each other, and the 2 acceleration shifting tables also appear to be identical to each other. Why so many tables, and how does the ECU choose which table to follow?

If I remember correctly, another member talked to the manufacturer of their AGM battery, and they said there isn't too much worry of overcharging. At 14v you should be good....the max voltage is somewhere in the mid to upper 14 range.

It's just beta support. I already checked for my wife's 4r, didn't find any stock 4r maps available yet and there's no tune packs available yet either because the tunes aren't finished. Most ECUs he doesn't have access to yet either because they're unreadable, which means people can't just give him an ECU dump, he needs actual ECUs in hand

I traded in my dongle & flashed 2.0, this is not a review of the tune though, not enough miles on it yet. I just wanted to give a shout out to Mat & Rafael at @OVTune, don't know why some folks complain about turn around time on keys & such. I waited 2 days at most thru the process & emails were answered quickly. Thanks you guys!!

@Rafael@OVTune @OVTune will there be 2.0Final support for 04B23/24? I'd seen that they weren't included in your posted links for 2.0F p5f

I understand they're a rare ECU. Came across someone a couple weeks ago with B24. They'd bought their truck in Chihuahua and since we live on the border here, it's not surprising I came across him.

I just downloaded the Tacoma 3.5L Tune Pack and I am a bit overwhelmed. I have stock tires so my options for regular unleaded fuel are as follows:

    04B31_Reg_Stock.p5f
    04B31_Reg_Stock_4.88.p5f
    04B31_Reg_Stock_5.29.p5f
    04B31_Reg_Stock_Thx_4.88.p5f
    04B31_Reg_Stock_Thx_5.29.p5f

What are the differences between these tunes, and is my truck (2019 AT TRD Sport with stock everything) eligible to try any of them?

I just uploaded the first one, and I still am having issues with the sluggishness as it seems to want to jump into 5th+ gear way too soon (as low as 35mph sometimes), so I am thinking about trying different ones, but I have no idea what each one means.

    Thank you all!
    Travis

    4.88 and 5.29 are re-gear tunes, which you haven't done I suppose.
Thx is a tune with a slightly more aggressive throttle (though not at tip-in).

From what you list, you want the first one: 04B31_Reg_Stock.p5f

There's nothing wrong with trying the others, but they weren't designed for your setup. Was there not a 04B31_Reg_Stock_Thx.p5f option? I don't remember if regular had that choice.

Super helpful, thank you RushT! Yes, there is a 04B31_Reg_Stock_Thx.p5f, I simply forgot to add that. That seems like my best next option. I was disappointed the 04B31_Reg_Stock.p5f didn't do the trick, as I have spent nearly $800 on the OV Tune products. Thank you again for the reply. I will give the Thx a try.

Be sure to reset learned values and then give it some time to settle in.

In the flash tool, right of the Flash It! button you used, you'll see Reset LV and Reset AT. After flashing the truck with a new tune, ensure you turn the truck off per the instructions. Then, turn ignition on again and press both of those. The first resets engine values, the latter transmission. Then turn it off and and then start it and allow to idle 5 minutes. Be patient the first 50-100 miles as it learns and things smooth out.

What he said... I forgot to include that.

Resetting learned values seems to really adjust performance for some, and not for others. Same with Thx, some prefer it, and some don’t.
