I backpack (late October) into the Northern Rockies backcountry to hunt elk but set up a week-long base camp when I get there. For that sort of thing I have two Kifaru tipi shelters (depends on body count which one I bring) and a collapsible titanium wood tent stove. That all adds up to about 15 lbs for a 3 man setup and 7 lbs for a one man setup. Not the sort of thing you’d want to do if you camp in different places every night, but is perfect for what we do.38ADA9E8-FE6A-43BE-A3B9-E1BB2AFB9E4D.jpg

I was eyeballing the Kifaru setups a couple weeks ago. I am not certain what we are planning on doing as far as hunting but I am expecting to be backpacking every day and constantly moving.. unless if we get on some elk fairly early

I’d stay away from their tipi tents and even the sawtooth if you move all the time. But they sure are nice when you’re in one spot for a bit.

haha yea something like that! I can run pretty shallow but I need a pole anchor on my boat to really be successful in fishing the inlets and creeks. One day ill cough up the money for a set

A good buddy of mine owns the oyster farm on the Masonboro Channel, just south of Hewletts Creek. He's got one up in Topsail too, just haven't been to that one yet.

It's crazy to see the tidal shifts and exposed oyster beds there

Oh no shit? That’s awesome! I’ve got a house on Hewlett creek that my company owns.

I’m up in the topsail area and live just across from Lea island

I thought those pics you posted looked like my area but your CA location convinced me I was crazy!

I'm from VA Beach but I had a few really close friends that went to UNCW and many of them stayed. I'll actually be visiting them next week.
My best friend lives on the Southend of Wrightsville Beach so I'll be spending some time with him and sometime with my parents in VB.
My girlfriends family is from Clinton but have a house on Topsail Beach.

I'm hoping we end up there after CA and maybe one more place in between. I love the area and if my girlfriend was on board, I'd move there tomorrow.

Oh nice! Yea I was apprehensive about moving here. From Texas, moved to Asheville to live in the mountains, then decided to open my own company and that required moving to Wilmington. It’s an awesome town and we are happy here. Especially having a boat now

Columbia is having a decent sale on most items. Wife stumbled upon it and figured I'd share.

Have carried 40+ lbs (18 base, 6L h20, 6 days food). Handled it like a champ, super comfortable compared to other equally loaded packs

Eeek! That sounds brutal. I’ve hiked Palo Duro canyon from bottom to rim and that was tough.. can’t imagine the actual Grand Canyon

Got my fly creek UL1 for $80 at an REI garage sale :anonymous:

You need an extra rain fly? When BA sent me a replacement fly for mine they accidentally sent me the copper spur 1

Asheville is beautiful, I never got the chance to properly visit when I was on the east coast and it's now on my list.

Wilmington and that whole area from Topsail to Wrightsville beach and beyond are amazing, I'm in the midst of convincing my parents to move there from Virginia Beach.

Are you in some sort of marine trade?
