I spent two thirds of May sitting on the ground turkey hunting and never saw one tick . Permethrin on my clothes and Rhino skin as my first layer of clothing . Ticks can not get through it .

I've heard the tests are really unreliable, but I am getting results back soon. The fact that the doxy was instantly effective, to me, says I either had a tick born illness or another large infection. I had a fever of 102 for 4 days and it broke the first night I took the doxy and hasn't come back. The headaches and fatigue are what I'm battling now.

I walk barefoot and half naked through my woods on a regular basis. Then rub all over my 5 dogs who do it full naked! I pull ticks off myself regularly

Took a ride through October MT yesterday. Got out for 2 seconds and had a tick latched onto my ankle.

Doctors just called, I am positive for Anaplasmosis. Stay on my doxy until end and should be good. Been feeling better everyday so hope it keeps up.

    damn man...sorry to hear.
Glad your body is responding well to the anti-b's.
Do you hose down with repellent before heading out to mow/cut trails/hike/etc.?

No I don’t put anything on. Usually I can find em while they are walking on me and I take hot showers after to catch ones I might miss. I’m going to have to either start checking myself better or spraying myself and my clothes tho because this past week sucked. :anonymous:

    man.....
I am glad you are getting treatment. Shit can really fuck you up.
Like @lynyrd3 said above, permethrin is good stuff. I have had good luck with it. If you have cats, be very careful. Can be toxic to them.

That’s the thing, I have bottles of that stuff and all the bug spray you’d want. I’m just hard headed and never have actually gotten sick before. I’ll see if this was enough to change my behavior.

what’s that quote about you can’t fix stupid?:anonymous:

    Thanks!

I think I'm like 90% there, just don't have the endurance built back up. These 100mg doxy's have been working hard for me:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I think 1/2 the problem is our dogs are all over our furniture and most the time I find them on me it seems to be ones that crawled off the dogs, onto the couch then have found me. Maybe I need to spray the furniture with it too.

The dogs are on a pill that they have to bite to kill them because the collars give two of them seizures.

Hows your summer been so far!

Those pills they give the dogs are amazing. Wish we could get something like that. :D
That little bastards have been get worse through the years. Wish there were a better way to take care of them.

The fact that the dogs get the pill but we don't makes me wonder about the safety of it over long term...

I use Vectra on my dog . Liquid you apply from back of neck down the spine to tail . I do pull ticks off of him but most times they are dead .

I have used with success on dogs as well. Not sure if it was that brand, but that method of application with whatever it was.

I believe it was frontline liquid I used on my dogs and cats. A big dot on their neck every so often. We have now switched to serato collars and haven't pulled a tick or fleas off either in a few yrs.

we were using those, and two of our dogs reacted badly to them after using them for a few years. Just went back to the pill every 3 months, seems to have been working. The issue is they still go on the dog and only die when they bite, so they still get inside.
