I still prefer the looks of the 3rd gen over it.

Who would dominate the midsize market if Toyota never introduced the DCSB Tacoma?

Honestly, I think the midsize market would've vanished a few years back if Toyota didn't sell tons of the things. It almost did.

In today's world without Toyota though, I'd guess GM.

    A few.
Oh its coming. You can count on that. We know Toyota is putting a V6 twin turbo in the new Tundra but maybe you don't believe that either. No reason to think it wouldn't follow suit with the Tacoma. And this aint the 80's.

Yeah...we will see. I remember when the tundra was slated for a diesel, and was told the same thing.

I mean if the new Hilux (of whatever Toyota wants to call it) looked like this and was offered in diesel in the US, I might consider. IMO this looks pretty awesome.

Wish they would merge the two lines (US Tacoma and Hilux) completely so every body panel, every frame, and almost everything else would be interchangeable. I know some engines sold elsewhere won't pass US emissions requirements, so those items can't go everywhere...

Also hope the US gets the "world" version of the Land Cruiser, instead of the "Lexus" version we've been getting the last few decades. Keep selling the current version with a Lexus name plate, but give us the less luxurious version with a Toyota badge!
