I have an 09 with about 350 miles on it now. Under light acceleration...no noise. Under hard acceleration...sounds normal. BUt under moderate acceleration it sounds like dogshit. I will define moderate acceleration as under fairly heavy load but just shy of making the Auto tranny downshift. It sounds like there is an exhaust leak at the manifold or something. I think there was a TSB somewhere for this???? ANyway, I have heard it from day 1 and figgered I would let the truck break in some before I went to the dealer. ANybody else having this issue?

I'm hearing a little bit more from my engine since installing my lift (no relation to acceleration), but I attributed it the fact that I removed the rubber inner fender aprons.

What engine do you have? My 2.7L 08 sounds like it has a exhaust leak also in almost the exact same situation as you have described.

Mine sounds like you describe too. I drove a couple Tacomas before I bought mine and they also made the noise that sounds like an exhaust leak. I just assumed it is the "taco tick"

If this taco tick you speak of is valve noise, it shouldn't be there. My truck has one valve that sounds bad. It makes a tick, tick. It is not fuel injection noise. If the valves are so loose that they are making noise, it isn't good for the cam, or anything. I'm going to take mine into toyota and get them to adjust the valves. The taco tick I remember from older generation trucks was the power steering pump I believe? Valves should not make much noise.
