That Jeep inline was an awesome engine. I ended up driving that thing all across the country. Put 150k miles on it and it still ran. That was a good engine. Peppy and throaty.

I had an old Cherokee with a straight 6, loved that thing, but didn’t have a clue.

In my humble opinion, the Jeep 4.0 HO inline was one of the best engines ever designed and manufactured. The rest of the jeep.......ehhhhhhh. Takes a lot of money to get one to where you need to be from a reliability and performance standpoint.

The 2nd one looks like mine, minus all the off road work.

That was a good XJ. Rubicon express 4.5" longarm, Ox locker rear, Aussie locker front, onboard air, 33's on beadlocks. And the venerable 5 speed manual. Don't remember why I didn't have the front bumper on during this event. Might have been still getting built at that point.

As much as I loved my old TJ, that thing was nothing but a problem after 100k miles. Just constantly replacing stuff. Radiator, alternator, clutch, rebuilt transfer case, cracked a head, AC went out, death wobble, etc, etc. I’ll always have a soft spot for Jeeps, but they aren’t reliable enough to me. As I aged, I desired simplicity and reliability. A stock TRD OR is perfect for me.

There's definitely a reason there's not one in my garage right now ;)

I'm getting "older" now too, I guess. And its hard to beat factory reliability. I also don't like to run my vehicles to their breaking point anymore. Too much work lol.

The JK seemed more reliable in a sense, but it kept having recurring steering/death wobble issues. As a “Jeep” though, I preferred the TJ. Something about the JK never hit home with me and I owned it nearly 8 years. Maybe it was just the body style I didn’t care for. I can’t put my finger on it.

I love the look of the new gladiator pickups. I drove a couple at the dealership, and they're quick, responsive, and well appointed inside.

And also $60k+ for a rubicon model. That's an absolutely rediculous amount of money. My TJ in the top picture I picked up as-is for $11k. And it would do almost any trail in north america. Granted, I knew what I was looking for and it took me a long, long time to find one that had been built correctly. I got tired of pissing away my own money and kept my eye out for someone that had pissed away their's (properly).

I think the JL’s have a better body-style than the JK’s do for sure. Unfortunately for me, I’m Jeeped-out man. Nearly 2 decades of nothing but Jeeps. I’m done. It was time to move on. The prices of these current Wranglers are flat out laughable. I was browsing some at a dealership this afternoon and they had about 30 of them just rotting in the lot that looked as if they hadn’t been washed in 3 months.

CJ’s are the king. CJ5 is my personal favorite. The short wheelbase just makes it look badass. I’ll gladly take a CJ7 too. Here’s my fathers ‘77 Bronco. These give those old CJ’s a run for their money. 28C61D8C-1708-4569-8CC0-6B9BF122D04A.jpg

I love those old broncos. Had a buddy in college whos dad put a Corvette drivetrain into a bronco II. That thing was rediculous.

My CJ5 had the 304 V8 and the three speed manual. Dump the clutch with the wheel turned and it would lift a tire lol.

I haven't spent much time out on your side of the state. Beautiful area though the few times I've been there!

Oh hell yeah...there is everything I couldn't afford at the time to really make that Jeep perform the way I wanted it too.

If the new Broncos look anything like the '77 its going to sell some units. There is already quite a bit of buzz about it but Ford can't seem to do anything right lately. The video of it cruising around behind a pack of horses makes it sound like its got some balls but I don't have confidence in Ford to not dick this up.
