I'm trying to jump into the lever action world. I really want a Winchester 94 pre-64 and leave it classic but I also want a Marlin and trick it out with all the "tactical" options they have.
All the local gun stores around here are sold out of everything, but I'm thinking for what I want to do I need to check the pawnshops for something used and hope I find a unicorn.

    Working on that
A not very artistic shot of my Marlin .357 and Winchester 30-30 trapper. These boys are most definitely not safe queens and get out with me a lot while camping.

Marlin 1895 XLR stainless in 45/70 . Love that gun! With the correct dose of RL-7 undrer a jacketed bullet it is a tackdriver and drops bears DRT. Does't like hardcast as much as jacketed bullets.

Marlin 1894 in 44 Mag - handy little carbine and is magic on Indiana deer.

Ruger #1 Tropical in 375H&H, real pretty and pretty accurate with the right handloads.

Found this older pic of mine. Steel buttplates and torn shoulders don’t mix well. So I improvised a little. Way better aesthetically pleasing than the cheesy limbsavers.

Bought her on an auction website as a parts rifle. Came in as a 1954 waffle top that had been drilled and tapped
    IMG_20170117_202319.jpg

    Put new stocks on her
Took it all apart, all parts in the sonic cleaner, got 80% stocks / sanded, and finished them. Front skinner blade and side mount rear peep sight (not sure thats the one shown in the picture. )

yep that ballard (corrected below) rifling barrel is more accurate than i am. (pre microgroove)

I do usually group a rifle but my open sight shooting is not nearly as good as my scoped rifle shooting, I havent invested the time to get better at it. From sighting it in at 50 yards i was putting holes right next to each other @ 100 i was around 3" for a 3 shot group and im betting 1.5" of that is me.

I think they have Ballard rifling. It cut not button rifled. But yes in general the rifling is better. Microgroove doesn’t stabilize cast as well. Both do jacketed just fine

I stand corrected. This was a project 3 years ago and i have so many different gun smith projects that its hard to keep it straight.

Have been tempted to pick up a 45-70 or 30-30 lever rifle.

Any quality difference with Henry vs Marlin?
