Hey y'all. Newbie here looking for some advice on 2016 Tacoma lift. I am sadly retiring my 2005 Tundra which was set up with Bilstein 5100s in front and heavy duty leave and Freightliner air bags in the back.

Downsizing a bit to this 2016 Tacoma and was looking at the 4" Rough Country lift but cringe at the thought of cutting the crossmember.

If anyone has advice on this Bilstein Ready lift, or has one, is appreciate you thoughts.

    DESCRIPTION
    ReadyLift 3″ Front and 2″ Rear Blocks Lift Kit with Bilstein 6112 shocks and coils for 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 Toyota Tacoma

    Part: RDY69-5531

    Details:

ReadyLIFT is continually seeking to develop premium lift solutions for our customers. This quest to offer good-better-best lift choices for our Toyota Tacoma customers has resulted in the development of the all-new 69-5531 ReadyLIFT/Bilstein 6112 SST Lift Kit. 69-5531 – ReadyLIFT/Bilstein 6112 SST Lift Kit – 2005-2020 Toyota Tacoma 2WD/4WD – (excludes TRD Pro).
The 69-5531 SST lift kit is the perfect system for the enthusiast customer who demands the very best performance on and off road. ReadyLIFT partnered with Bilstein to provide their popular 6112 series shock body and spring kit which alone provides 2.5″ of lift, but requires disassembly of the stock strut and you only get 2.5″ of front lift. We have found that Tacoma customers want a true 3″ of front lift and they want it in a bolt-on configuration. Our engineers accepted the challenge and have designed a new CNC-machined billet top hat that includes an additional 0.5″ of lift for a combined lift of 3″ in front. Even better is we handle the assembly for you so all you have to do is bolt the new 6112 strut assembly in – no spring compressor required! This results in much faster install times and you get a pre-set, pre-tuned performance lift set up right out of the box!

The all-new 69-5531 SST Lift Kit includes (2) Bilstein 6122 60mm digressive large off road piston monotube front shocks with new springs pre-set and pre-assembled with our ReadyLIFT top hat assembly, (2) front sway bar frame-side drop spacers, (2) differential drop spacers with hardware (for use on 4WD applications) and (2) OEM style cast 2″ tall rear lift blocks with new longer u-bolts.

This new lift system is perfect for the Tacoma truck owner who wants the best ride quality or is looking for comfortable precision performance on remote off-road adventures, all while allowing for up to a 33″ tall tire.

Note: Not for use on 4Runner.

    Tire Fitment:

    • Popular tire choices: 285/65-18 on 18×9 0 offset or 285/70-17 on 17×8 0 offset.

Also curious to hear thoughts on this. All the folks saying their 5100s with OME springs start to sag a few months after install has me hesitant to go that route. This seems like you could keep 3” of lift, but I’m curious if folks on here will say that the ride will be too stiff/harsh??

    HH,

I ended up going with the Old Man Emu suspension lift through Low Range Offroad. They are going to save me some time by building the struts\could with a new top mount so it will come plug and play just like the Bilsteins i was asking about above. Benefit here is it comes with beefed up rear leafs and OME shocks in rear vs just blocks. plus LowRangeOffroad was great to deal with on the phone. Price was just a few bills more than the Bilstein setup. Should be delivered this coming week.

    Good luck with your hunt!

Are they using different 6112's for the second and 3rd gen? Because bilstein does, and there are differences.

    BBH,

Nice! Do you think you’ll get the desired amount of front lift with the OME suspension kit? The ready lift version with Bilstein 6112 coilovers was engineered to give a full 3” of lift. I was thinking the OME kits would only give you about 2.25”-2.5” max in the front. Which springs did you go with?
I agree the rear leafs are likely a better option than the blocks.

    Hey big buck,

I had this kit installed about 6 months ago so I will do my best to share my thoughts. First off, I drive a 2019 Toyota Tacoma TRD sport that I bought off the show room, so I have a good understanding from before and after this install.

I wanted more than a spacer, but less than a CMC. I didn’t want to spend $2,000 plus for coil overs and leaf packs alone. I called my local installation guys, and we spoke about my expectations. I want the size, the stance, the ability to pack a fat, aggressive tire without cutting my $40,000 shiny new toy.

    Would I recommend- 8/10
    Price point- 8/10
    Ride quality- 6/10
    Satisfaction- 8/10

With all of that being out there, I’ll explain why. The kit was much cheaper than that of an icon, fox or old man emu. You still get the name of bilstein underneath you, which we know as enthusiasts, is good shit. The truck initially seemed very stiff, but has become a little softer. Enough softer for a comfortable ride? No, you still feel potholes and you are definitely squeezing cheeks when hitting them. I am ok with this though because I plan to drop the setting in the 6112’s from 5 down to 4 (hoping that there’s minimal rub). If you go on readylift’s website and read the reviews, you’ll see that a few people did this and they said it took the stiffness away and gave you some more comfort. I am also adding some upper control arms that readylift said you won’t need. My alignment has been a little off, leaving a slight left hand pull. It’s not bad, but noticeable. I also have not went in for a realignment so this could be the installers mistake- can’t blame the kit for this one.

With this kit, you are getting the lift from the bilstein, not the coil, which from my understanding is totally fine, but not preferred- according to the guys at headstrong.

Conclusion: I think that if you’re looking to sacrifice a little ride quality to get the exact look you want, for a good price, this is the one to get. I will make some minor adjustments to enhance this kits overall grade.

I hope I was helpful and if you have any questions, please respond here!

have you notched them down to the 4th setting since posting? Ive heard some people leave the driver side at 5 and move passenger side to 4 to compensate for taco lean.

You are right on the edge of needing aftermarket UCA.

That adds another $800. I might skip the extra 1/2 " unless you want the UCA anyway.
