Hey I have a question for you guys: I got a potential job offer in the Hickory area, how does that compare to Charlotte? Is it a crime ridden mess? Meth head central? Or boring type town? My wife and I checked out Charlotte and just couldnt get down with it, but this may be a decent opportunity.

I grew up there. It’s pretty tame. It’s cheaper than Charlotte, but still a pretty good sized area. Not as diverse as Charlotte (more red vs blue if you get my drift). There are some really nice areas and some really run down ghetto area, like anywhere.

Feel free to PM me if you’d like.

what type of job are you looking at?

He must have been in Raleigh area a week ago. I saw the legit red stereotype with teardrop tats and all. I didn't think that was all that big anymore especially in Cary.

In all seriousness tho, Catawba county is pretty cool. Hickory has quite a few things to do downtown. Mountains are close. Lake hickory or lake James for water sports. I would personally stay on the NE side around Newton,/conover area. Hickory for the most part will change from block to block and gets expensive to actually get any acreage if you want it

I’ll sell my house for the right price, plenty of acreage and move in ready...

need to cash in that equity and move towards Denver and get a beach condo to start renting out.

All that equity will go towards a down payment on a smaller house in Denver.

Not really. We can afford to live there now. We wanted to live there when we bought our current house but we were priced out of the market. Our incomes have double since then; so we can get something nicer and in a neighborhood for the kids.

edit - to be clear. Talking about Denver NC not CO.
