My first new truck, was a 85 Toyota pickup. $5,880 out the door. 22R engine. It came with 2-60 air conditioning. Power nothing. No radio. 6 ply tires.

Do cousins once-removed count? My T100 was the precurser to the Gen 1 Tundra but it seems to have more in common with the pre-Tacoma Toyota trucks (same drivetrain, slightly-larger cabin, etc.) then it did with the Tundra which came after it.

Nice to see the T100 is still around. Did you know Toyota wanted to name it’s new truck the T150, but Ford objected, stating it sounded too much like its F150.

You know what...there's a LOT to be said for the simplicity, design, and reliability of the "older" vehicles with manual windows, mirrors, etc., etc.

I'm also old enough to know what you mean by the "2-60 air conditioning". Too funny.

    :)

My first new car was the 86' pick-up. Loved the 22R engine. I had the 2wd w/6' bed. 335k miles when I sold it.

I had the standard bed. Mine was white. I also had the manual transmission with vinyl seat.

Thanks! It’s gotten more use by non-pickup owning neighbor this year then me so far this year LOL!

I do remember the T150 but I think it was what Toyota called the concept for what became the Gen 1 Tundra.
