that's pretty simple, yet complicated. I'd rather have one of the gas strut opening ones than electric, but do like the crank I have. I've had mine for quite a few years, since before they got so popular and varied. lots of options now, it's awesome

Depends how small your kids are. I have a CVT MT Rainier 3+person tent. We're a family of 3. When our daughter was younger (8) the 3 of us would fit quite well. Now she's 10 and put on a growth spurt our last camping trip was a painful experience.

Anyone have links to some good RTT “tips, tricks, hacks, etc” ?

    I’m buying a Tepui Kukenam 3 Ruggedized.

I know I’ll need a fan, some LED lighting on the inside of the tent and under the tent once deployed, and something to put on the base of the ladder.

is an annex really worth it? It’s another $370.

My wife says the annex is a must. Place to change? I think some will keep the ladder out of the weather

It will be me and my almost 3yo daughter going camping. You won’t pry my spouse out of the house unless it’s in a camper with ac and a full bath. She sucks.

Don’t even have ac in the house, we go camping when possible to help be cool.

I thought we would need the annex for this as well. But the truth is that we camp in more dispersed places where there are less people. We don't really bother hauling or setting up the annex. It just adds more time to setting up and breaking down camp.

i think one of those portable small shitter shelters would be a better and cheaper idea.

Yup, we drive a couple hours west to gain some elevation. It's usually about 75° in the mountains while it's 95° at home.

Yea. I don't really have the tent open all that much. We only open it about 5 minutes before we are ready to go to sleep. And when we wake up, we close it. The annex is a waste of time to me. If I needed a full room like that, I'd opt for the awning walls instead.

while I agree, the wife won’t, so to get what I want, I’ll get what she wants. I’ll have to go for the whole kit and caboodle. Need the awning as she is a red head and got a bad sunburn just waiting in a parking lot for 15 minutes. She showers in sun screen most mornings.

I feel your pain. I can't go camping unless I take the whole family. In order to do that, I have to become a overland stereotype. It's not my wife's fault though. She's a trooper and would be happy backpacking and minimal stuff. It's the kids that make it torture if we can make it comfortable for them.

I plan on getting the ARB walls for my awning soon, even though my awning is Amazon.

The awning for my tent is pretty insane..

I can’t count how many times we had a tent, a cooler, and a sleeping bag or blankets.

Then kids....then back surgery..now we pack the fuck out of the truck. Sometimes I just leave the camping gear loaded in the truck for the summer.

If it was just me and the wife, we'd have a wedge camper for sure.
