We share bills; my wife pays most of hers online...I prefer to send a check.

 

I have never had checks for my current bank account and I've probably had it for 15 years.

 

I think we had a to get a money order or two

 

It's not like writing a check is hard work....

I never understood that, if your married, why more than one account? We joined ours together from day one and haven't looked back.

Checks and stamps cost money, they aren't much but it adds up over time and leaves me more to spend on stuff, lol.

 

We've always done this. 3 accounts; her check, my check, savings (which is currently low, as usual). It's worked well for nearly 3 decades.

We've never shared our accounts or halved bills. He has his, I have mine. We both share access, but have our own savings, etc...

It just works for us. We've always been very open with each other financially but having to think about what he's buying and what I'm buying and thinking of a budget gets complicated. We don't have to discuss our purchases with one another, though we do if it's over a certain amount and that's it.

 

I mean....so does the internet access you're using to pay your bills (one could argue).
I know my way is old school and probably stupid, but I like it.

Truck payment for example: one month I may pay $500, the next month I may pay $800

When I'm hunting I may skip a month cause gas.

I'm not gonna knock anyone's financial systems for their relationship.

I know the system we use has "worked".....but I wouldnt be opposed to changes currently.

 

Would a blank one be ok?
