First day of Calgary barbells 16week program. Squats, bench, Ohp, and rows on the same damn day. Should be fun.

check out Altra. I have their escalante II’s following knee surgery and they are AMAZING!! Always used either Nike, Brooks, or New Balance, but I like there wide box toe design (lets your toes land naturally and spread out). I’m currently putting around 10 miles on them a week and increasing (per post knee surgery plan), and love them.

I’ve got two weeks in my Escalantes and I love em. I’m just using them as daily walking shoes and lifting shoes right now. After a month I may move to try some shorter runs in them.

People act like you have to be super careful switching to zero drop. I’m not sure how valid that is.

I’m moving to more minimalist shoes overall. I had foot surgery with hardware and arthritis in my big toe. I used to have a bulky orthotic and a carbon plate. Since moving to more minimalist designs I have zero foot pain and no longer use any orthotics. Hoping zero drop shoes keep strengthening my feet.

I had a similar result with my MCL/ACL surgery. My PT told me to try them out because they would force me to land correctly (impact on my entire straight leg) If I let the shoe do what it is designed to do, I have zero issues. I used my new balance shoes to start and I consistently had pain.

I plan to grab a pair of their trail shoes when I am cleared to run trails! I’m excited to get my mileage back up!

So far, I am a huge fan!

glad to see you doing so well on coming back to running!!

I’m trying to decide between the Lone Peak, Timp, and the Superior for trail shoes.
The lone peaks seemed like the tread was a bit overkill. I liked the fit of the superior more, which is more minimalist. I havent tried on the Timp but its supposed to be the middle man.

As soon as I get through my other 4 shoes I own I can justify a new shoe lol.

I have been genuinely impressed how much I have been able to run. I increased my mileage last week to 35 from 19. No pain no issues. I’ve never been able to do that in the past.

Lifting I’m still struggling with. Thats improving slower than I hoped.

Glad to hear you are getting back to it and not struggling with the Altras on the knee.

remind me, full knee replacement? Or just foot stuff?

and agreed with you on a minimalist approach.

Meniscus repair right knee. Left foot surgery was a few years ago.

Shoot me if I had to have a knee replaced. I could run better with a prosthetic lol. Plus amputation would heal faster.

Dunno. Sleeping weird maybe. Bed issues. I dunno. Some days I wake up fine other days I’m in pain. Doesn’t matter what I do the day before
