Warranty expired and suddenly it started falling apart. An axle, a horn, and the entire A/C system all went with just a few thousand miles outside of 36,000.

The A/C issue is a significant and known issue for the model year—and corrected in future model years. For 2017, however, it’s addressed with just a TSB and no recall. Spent way too much out of pocket for a flaw that Ford subsequently acknowledged and fixed. To top it off, I had to replace the compressor days after the evap core was fixed. It was beyond parody at that point for me.

Additionally, a good friend of mine has a relatively new-ish Focus (2015?) that suffers from those famous transmission issues that Ford recently settled.

IMO, Ford has exhibited a really shitty pattern of not standing behind their recent products and I hate incurring more risk than necessary.

There are plans to come out with a Bronco based truck, so that may affect it's availability in other models.

If they do offer it in the next gen Ranger it would have to be in a Raptor or other Off Road models. The Bronco 7 speed is like a traditional 6 speed but has an extra steep gear for crawling.

The interiors of the 2 are different and one would have to be created for the Ranger. Although they'll probably just steal the international one again

I wasn't talking about development cost as much as I was assembly cost. These days low volume options cost money to build. They just take up space on the production floor and add complexity to production lines. I would be very surprised if the Ranger gets a manual transmission. I suspect the Tacoma's time is limited as well. Toyota has already reduced it to the V6/4×4 combo only.

These days companies build what the majority of buyers want. What the minority wants doesn't cover cost or make shareholders happy.

The Gladiator is doing pretty well. I probably see more of that than Ranger or the Colorado. I was gonna go with a Gladiator but I couldn't wait a year and super happy with my Taco. Plus didn't want to spent another $15k plus for the Gladiator spec I wanted.

Right, I was just thinking out loud. I figured since they are going to be putting it in the Bronco they should get a volume discount and run them down the line at the same time like Toyota does.

I ended up getting a Ram as well. Bought a well maintained used one for dirt cheap. 20200712_194755.jpg

I've heard that the AC units in these do blow apart. That sucks man. It's such a sweet car I want to love it...but stories like this make it hard to want to buy one

When I was leaving the dealer for the A/C a second time (compressor) a yellow Mustang was sitting in the service bay because his A/C started blowing warm on the driver's side...

So yeah, that's a lot. And it sucks.

Wife wants it. I like it (after first year bugs are worked out).

It's not going to replace the Taco, for us, that's for sure.

Gotta give 'em credit. Ditching cars and going all in. At least they're making something interesting.

Me, several hours ago: my latest Ford experience was bad, I can't do anything new from them.

    Me, now: what's $100?

I was looking into Frontiers prior to my Tacoma but never actually test drove one. Pretty quickly decided the Tacoma was my dream vehicle. I have a '99 Ranger and it's great but it's a simple, plastic tub floor, HVAC only dash. Gonna keep it as my trash truck

Right, just an online price comparison I did as the prices mentioned in this thread raised an eyebrow. I’ve always been able to get 20% off MSRP at minimum off of Rams and Fords.

^ This right here ^ The Colorado looks pretty impressive on paper- but that's it. I went to see them and when I sat in one, a radio knob just fell off. What's that? Walking around the truck - one of the headlights & both tail lights had water in them. I just walked away. If that's what GM is showcasing then what are the hidden issues? One of my neighbors had a nice ZR-2, but it went back before the paper tag expired...said every other vehicle in the service dept was a Colorado. Shame.
