Pretty much unless you live near a big city, they don't test anything! I'm running no cats on my truck and it stinks like an old chevy, but i'm loving it so far :burnrubber:

Not a whole lot of pictures there though bud.

I would feel more comfortable removing 1/4" of metal on my snout to avoid any metal to metal interference. It shouldn't be a problem based on the mod you did to yours?

Well, there is a circular piece of metal that the shaft goes through, I didn’t grind beyond that, except to taper down a bit on either side. Was worried about that backing piece not being supported enough by snout material if I ground further than the face of it. Not many pictures but you can see, it was rough all right.

Otherwise, I think approx 1/4” was removed.

What are your opinions on catch cans sir? Not trying to stir anything up, only curious as to what the other side of the argument for/against them would be.. Just trying to learn more about them at this point in time

That is exactly why I am suggesting that it be asked in a separate thread is because it is a controversial topic and heavy debate can come from it.

As for me I choose not to give my opinion at all about it because I'd rather give no information than misinformation. Can't be wrong if you don't say anything at all. :D

Been a while since I added to this page.. let me do a small refresh.

Had a moment of creativity and the desire for more bass, so I worked as hard as I could to retain an incognito like stealth look all while running two amps and retaining the factory style setup. One is for the speakers and the other is exclusively for bass handling. I am just about done and need to do a little more trimming on the large rear panel for it to fully drop in, but it fits, it's mostly hidden and it THUMPS for a little 8".

For additional aid in helping the OE enclosure sound better I filled the interior of it with polyfill before dropping in the P1 SVC sub. I decided to rig an in-line marine style breaker quick disconnect system instead of a inline fuse from a previous project for the main power circuit. It works incredible and fits behind the panel without getting tripped off.

The system as a whole is just massively loud and is plenty for what I was after. The JBL setup should had came this way from the factory.

Picture dump incoming. I have done too much to the truck since I have last updated the build thread. These are all of the mods I have done to the truck recently.

My first and oldest of the most recent mods was the subwoofer setup. I am running a Memphis Mojo M6 and this thing BLASTS the cab for a 8" take a look at my old SVC 8" Rockford Fosgate sub for size comparison purposes. Needless to say this required modification of the backseat in order to fit correctly and I only recently was able to get it all to fit back in correctly and still function close to OE. The seat fitting and working correctly is still a work in progress to get it to work 100% like OE again. (The only part which I have not regained is the fold down feature which turns the backseat into a flat floor without hitting the sub face and causing interference. Everything works again otherwise.)

In an effort to get better sound and mostly combat heat during the summer months, I removed my headliner and installed some Noico matting. I then installed some more liner above this stuff, not pictured, but you get the idea, the roof sounds nice when you knock on it from the outside now. Lol. This was a MAJOR pain to do because dropping the headliner is really annoying.

    20190807_112342.jpg

Next up is cam gears. I didn't take a picture of them installed, but they are in and ROCK over OE function. Thanks @mightytacoman for making these for us! This is a picture of them marked and ready for install. The install day sucked, but it was done so that's all that matters.

    20190801_181812.jpg

While I was installing the cam gears I screwed up my OE T-stat so I took the liberty of installing a 160 Mishimoto thermostat. Pictured below is a side by side comparison with that of Mishimoto in comparison to Motorad. The quality is immediately notable. (Motorad has the clamp on the neck, Mishimoto does not)

    20200124_122425.jpg

I also went ahead and upgraded my MAF tube and half portion of my URD ram air intake to a really nice 3.5" unit. The MAF tube has a built in honeycomb for improving airflow across the MAF itself. Very nice touch. The MAF adapter tube is built by MRP and will set you back some $100 if I remember correctly. Worth it though.

Next up is my custom lightweight supercharger crank pulley, the lightweight crank dampner, and water pump pulley, all made by NST, the supercharger crank pulley is a one off prototype that they built for me in efforts of the group buy which is still in the production phase of the group buy for my supercharger group buddies they should start getting their units soon actually.

    20200127_182529.jpg

In efforts to make my blower build more reliable and more stealthy, I installed a Gates RPM series belt, this was a huge help in ensuring belt longevity! I thrn removed my 2.3 pulley, sprayed it satin black and then added some black screws sent to me, big thanks to @Norton for hooking it up with the screws, this should help it come inspection time!

    20190809_170928.jpg 20200126_110336.jpg

I ordered a LoTek pillar pod and installed dual AEM X series OBD2 gauges. These things are awesome as they let me choose various PIDS on the fly while driving. I nornally use them for coolant and battery temperature though.

    20200117_142946.jpg

I got sick and tired of so much squeaking from my uniballs and in an effort to combat annoying noises I upgraded my uniballs to Icon Delta Joint retrofits. These things are awesome and the fact they are greasable is a very welcome thing. The front has considerably quieted down now and they fit beautifully in the Dirt King Gen 1 tubular upper control arms.

Retrofits! This one was fun (not really) it was tedious, annoying, and there were so many snafu's along the process. It was ultimately worth it but I don't think I would do it again.

Light output is pretty on par with that of HIDs. I must say, I am very pleased with the outcome.

How much did you spend to get the wheel/airbag? I have seen some on ebay but I am a bit concerned with buying an ebay air bag lol.

I spent about $235 for the bag itself and about $250 for the wheel. I spent about $60 on the donor wheel to transfer stuff from and $90 for the steering wheel buttons which I may end up returning as I have a now have a spare on hand.

Total about $635, and tons of time invested in rewiring things to restore functionality to the buttons on the truck as well as running new wiring for the additional buttons (which still don't work because of the module or the radio not supporting the buttons).

    Recent stuff:

My own spin of the TRD intake adapting a new hybrid using the FJ/T4R intake tube obtainable by anyone interested proved to be a decent amount of work to get fitted up correctly. If it wasn't for my shock tower brace it would had not been such an issue. The SAI pump required relocation as well. Lucky for 2011 and under guys you don't need to worry about the relocation required to run this.

Shown here: SAI pump harness required extension in order to compensate for the new location away from the OE mounting location. This was my least favorite part because finding the correct gauge wiring to extend the harness then attempting to solder it nicely was difficult.

    Mightytacoman coolant tank:

This was an emergency solution to my leaking gallon coolant tank which had been getting progressively worse over time. I got so sick of it that I had to have an emergency spot bumped to me so I can get it sooner rather than later down the wait list. I can't remember who gave me the spot but thank you! It also has an added benefit of adding an extra .5 quarts to the system, bumping the overall from 1 to 1.5 quarts of overall coolant storage capability. Now it's leak free. :) It used to be silver but of course you know I had to give it the blackout paint treatment.

Repurposing a setup for more efficiency:

Recent findings in my never ending study of the TRD/ Magnuson supercharger due to tuning difficulties from @JustDSM of my 2.3 pulley left me puzzled, yet pleased. My reversion back to a larger, yet more efficient 2.8 pulley brings the blowers boost levels down to a measly 7.3 PSI at WOT, but a SURPRISINGLY high powered 7.3 PSI in comparison to what the 2.3 was ever capable of due to bringing the superchargers heat production level back down and bringing it's efficiency back into a favorable scale on the compressor efficiency island. This plus all of the added supporting mods equals a much quieter, longer living, and much cooler supercharger. Wins all around!

    awww.eaton.com_ecm_groups_public__pub__eaton__per_documents_content_ct_128485.gif

Which leads me needing to paint yet another Qwikchange pulley stealth black.

    20200614_105853.jpg

And it was like nothing ever happened under the engine bay! A no cut required K050705RPM belt to compliment the new pulley and we are back in business!

    FIC 650cc injectors:

These are the icing on the cake on top of everything else. Fuel economy has not improved, but the intention of these is to create a more even distribution of fuel across each cylinder, the result is a much smoother idle and potentially even (placebo effect?) a slight bit of power under the powerband. These are also high impedence, much improved tech over the classic peak and hold injectors and the larger capacity of each injector allows me to run the 30% more fuel I need if and when the time comes that I want to tune for E85 and play around with that. I didn't realize it until later on but these injectors are the Bosch EV14L derivatives of LSx engine style injectors. As much as I hate GM, I do admire their pioneering of new technologies, so it's nice to have a piece of that tech running my engine now. :)

Unfortunately, these adapters did not end up working out so I had to end up depinning the OE connectors and repinning the EV14 connectors into the OE pins. Much more of a daunting task than I don't wish even on the worst of my enemies. Lol.

I also heat shrunk the fancy blue adapters to black for more of a "stealth" look.. it worked out beautifully. Kudos to @BillDaCat8 and @White lightning boosted for the stellar idea of that!! After that, these have been installed, tuned, and my setup is once again good to go like nothing ever happened. :)
