There's no lights for this. Is it invisible? I had YWM for over a year and wheeled it plenty in low traction conditions and never had any sort of intervention from the brakes.

That's odd, I've got a base model and I see "TRAC OFF" in H4 (and L4 now since doing this mod) after a quick-press. I would imagine anything I have on the base model, any other model would also have it.

What do you see when you're in H4, and you quick-press the VSC button? Absolutely nothing? As far as I know, you shouldn't see AUTO LSD in H4.

I can see all the lights silhouettes while they're off. I don't even have a spot for TRAC OFF.

No change after quick press in 4hi and 4lo

Hold and I get what's in the picture in all modes.

Quick press gives auto lsd in 2wd.

My mistake, sorry. You do not get a "TRAC OFF" light, but according to your model year's manual (pages 191-193), you do indeed have TRAC and of course VSC, and the mod you've done also allows them to work in L4. When you do a quick press, you do turn off TRAC (which then allows brake modulation on slipping wheels only - engine regulation is disabled) even though there is no indicator. When the TRAC/VSC/DAC are actively working (you'd have to apply quite a bit of throttle in a low traction scenario to notice), you'll see the VSC light flash and I think the system will buzz at you.

2011 Manual located here, as of 07/2019: https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM35A34U/pdf/OM35A34U.pdf or https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM35A58U/pdf/OM35A58U.pdf

The TRAC OFF light apparently only started showing up in model year 2012, but the traction control modes behave the same.

2012 Manual located here, as of 07/2019: https://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om-s/OM35A48U/pdf/OM35A48U.pdf

Hmm. I'll have to give it a shot. I can get it three wheelin on my property so I'll do some more tests. I had it on the slick clay trails in URE in NC and didn't have any intervention on some slick climbs so I just figured my model didn't have it.

Thank you sir for the info.

Just did the updated mod. I had the original yellow wire mod, done years ago. I soldered and heat shrank the yellow wire mod back to factory. Than I did the updated mod. Works perfectly. I am going to get and add a 100ohm resistor, just to be on the safe side. Everything works great. No 4lo blinking light and I'm able to go into Trac off on hi and lo, as well as disable traction and stability control. Thanks for the awesome update guys. Love this site

Has anyone noticed that after the ywm that they've lost auto LSD in 2wd. My dash lights are still on, but I don't seem to get any braking intervention on my no traction wheel.. just getting one tire fire now.

Has anyone confirmed that this version of the yellow wire mod works, i.e. cutting the wire to the ECU and adding 12V, vs cutting the "2nd yellow wire from the top" to the 4wd hi/lo signal?

In particular has it been verified for the 2009-2011 model years, which clearly have different button response than 2012+?

    anyone????

I'm confused which wire gets the +12v . the cut wire? Does it always get the +12v, so any switched 12v is good?

After reading this thread in its entirety as well as reading other forums, I have no clue. I'm not sure why no one has done a step by step write up with a video on both versions. I was not confused until I got to the new mod part and now its all just wish wash in my head lol

So I did this mod today, without disconnecting the battery. Then went out and tried it. Got stuck on flat greasy mud! Front lsd don't seem to work. Tried everything from 4h to 4l, finally got moving some in 2w and lsd kicked in.
Hoping to disconnect battery soon, try to reset everything.

Which version did you try? old just wire snip, or new wire snip +12v?
Let us know if it works. I'm getting ready to do this, and unsure of which version to use. Few posts of people saying the new way doesn't work. But then others say it does.

So i see there is no front lsd, not in any 4wd mode.

I just snipped the yellow wire. What does the snip + 12v do? Didn't see that one.

I don't know where the original discussion is, but here's one from a few pages back:

Old wire snip, without disconnecting the battery.

Ok, so got out in the snow today, got to try the ywm.
    I do seem to have lsd f & r.
After going through deep snow, in 4lo, all of a sudden my 4lo indicator is not flashing, but I still have 4lo. Kept driving, felt the front brakes kicking in the lsd.
Couldn't get out of 4lo, no matter what. Turn off the truck, then restart, et voila! 4lo flashes, can be disabled, all is good.
Happened a couple times on this run, but restart fixes everything.
That's my experience so far. More to come.

It doesn't flash when fully engaged, it's solid. It only flashes when it's in between.

This thread is about the ywm. When done properly, 4lo flashes.
