Yeah unless you already are invested into the Milwaukee line of tools you are probably better off getting a old stihl.
A Milwaukee chainsaw is probably only good once you have a decent stock of batteries. 1 battery wont last you all that long

Yeah even that small stihl would be plenty good enough for what we deal with out here. And it's actually a kickass saw for the price, I forget which model number 0**. Fine, I'll look

DC power is easy, digital is interesting but not difficult. Analog gets complicated, and then as you increase frequency and voltage, it gets freaky - electricity starts traveling along the surface of the wire, wires of the wrong shape and impedance start bouncing signals back and forth along the wire. Madness.

I wonder what the cutting power is like with the Milwaukee vs a gas saw of similar price.

seeing how their other saws can rip though just about anything ive cut I would hope the chainsaw is just as powerful

Old stihl parts and service guy here.. don't buy the stihl battery chainsaw unless you plan on converting all your entire yard equipment stock into stihl battery power... it's prohibitively expensive and to get the better battery you need the better charger and all of it is sold seperate :(

Looks like common retail price is 180 bucks. Get a used one on KSL for a hundred bucks maybe. It's a decent buy at 180 bucks brand new. I thought they were more like 140-150 though. Good little saws man

Nice. Lots of really practical stuff in there.

I did high voltage stuff in school, which was fun. After that its been microcontroller programming, board design and railroad signalling for the most part.

They're phasing the 170 out but you're right, for a basic small yard saw they're great. Don't buy one used of that model though... homeowners beat the tar outta them and still think they're worth more than they actually are

That's a good point. Though I think I'd be able to notice when one's been whooped.
Oh they're phasing that model out huh?
They're great saws but they became so popular it was hard for me to be as fan boi'ish for them:rofl:so I got a Dolmar(labeled makita gas saws in US, those blue and gray ones that home depot rents out)
That's good to know we have a small engine guy here though!!

I've got an extra skid, LCAs, tailgate parts, latches, even extra hardware for the Wilco. Let's not talk gun parts....

At least I don't have axles laying around for people to run over :luvya:
