Don't 2nd gen trucks turn it off automatically if you don't meet the weight requirement? Pretty sure they do, should have a light on the dash to tell you it is off as well

Yes. Does that make it legal for my child to be in my truck if I can’t manually disable the airbags?

I don't think they do manual disabling things anymore, I think technology has just progressed beyond that. But maybe call the police non emergency line or a lawyer.

There's an occupancy sensor in the seat.
If junior is under a certain weight, the bag won't deploy.

So in theory only a fat baby should be in any real danger

Ask your wife that you want to borrow her car so you can carry kid around to places. Your wife use your truck to work or store by herself. That way you don't worry about kid get hurt by airbag deployment.

I just wouldn't haul a baby around in the front seat period. I don't know if I could trust the occupant sensor for a baby.

Plus I think it is illegal in some states if you don't have an actual on/off keyswitch.

    Typically this is the rule:
If the truck has only a single cab and an active airbag with no on/off switch than you cannot put a rear facing seat in it. If the truck has a single cab and is equipped with an on/off switch for the air bag, than you can put a rear facing seat in the front of the vehicle if you turn off the air bag.

I also agree that is what the wifes car is for.

My truck has a key in the dash to turn it off. I would think they all did.

My dclb does not have the key switch. However, the wiring for it is behind the blank where it would go.

Only access cabs have the switch.

Since you have DC, you must put baby seat in back seat. Not in front. You can not cut or unplug that airbag wire. It's the law. If cops find out that it's unplugged or cut off, you may get a ticket.

Well them finding out is impossible unless you tell them or they discover it during a forensic autopsy of your truck after a fatality accident. But it’s so odd they only put the key in the access cab model.

This for sure ^ I would not trust your babies safety with an airbag on/off sensor.
