30% Window Tint Pic Request

I'm in OR and our tint laws only allow a measly 35% in the front. Currently they are the factory 37% with 25% in the rear. Next Monday i'm having a shop do 30% on the front and was wondering if the difference is enough to even bother. I'm not wanting to match the rears as to add too much attention that I'm darker then legal, but would like a nice middle ground.

Is anyone out there running 30% or something close to up front that wouldn't mind posting some pics?

No its not worth it to bother. Are you just trying to bug the cops and get citations? "gunna make me drag out the tint-o-meter ain't ya kid".

wait, both of those are 35%? Wow, the first tint shop I went to broke out their tint meter and stated my stock front's were 37%....unless I heard him wrong. If those are 35% then I'll for sure do the same and go with 35%.

^^ It's the same as the OEM tint 30% on the rear windows which is illigal in VA

 

I asked the shop to match the fronts as close to the rears and still keep it legal, this is what they gave me. They told me that the stock rears were 30-35% so we were good. The pics do make it look darker.

Well I appreciate it fellas, your pictures sealed the deal for me on going to 35% vs. 30%. Playing with that 5% is not worth the potential ticket. My fronts must be in the 60% range....wait a minute...the tint guy with his tint-o-meter read the meter stating 37%; I think he meant to say that 37% of light was deflected making my fronts 63%ish.

 

I put 35% on the front .... left the others stock .... although the picture does not really do it justice, they match up nicely.

 

In Virginia 35% equates to allowing 35% of the light in. The lowere the number the darker it is. I think it may be turned around in other areas.

 

No I don't think it's turned around in other areas, it's pretty universal. The guy at the Truck Accessory store with the Tint-o-meter did not understand how to read the gizmo.

 

No discrimination in hiring practices there huh?

 

Don't worry about Portland cops and tint. Unless you drive like a total douche bag, they won't bother you. If you're Mexican with tint, then yeah, they will bother you. My old Tacoma had 20% up front and I drove it for 6 year without ever once getting pulled over.
