Glad to see I'm not the only one that parks at the end of the lot away from everyone :)

Question for you. I like the punch idea as opposed to cutting the strip into smaller pieces -- I think it is cleaner overall. Great job. Question for you, instead of the punch did you consider drilling them with something like a spade bit?

By the way, really enjoy your videos. They make me feel like I could actually install the rack. :).

The roof molding has a metal strip running down it on the underside, which is why using a punch is the best because you can just "punch" through it all at once.
When I installed my Yakima rack I used snips to cut out the metal band where I needed to drill the holes and used a standard twist bit to drill the holes through the rubber. For a bigger hole like Prinsu requires I'd use a hole saw bit.

Thanks. Did not know that. Very helpful. Not ready to pull the trigger on the rack yet -- still researching. But that video makes it seem like even I could do that instal.

Rack installation is pretty easy to do since it uses factory mounts and doesn't require you do drill any holes in your cab.
All you have to make sure to do is use enough sealant on the bolts so you don't get any leaks and make sure you torque everything down to the proper specifications.
The hardest part is marking the holes in the molding which if you mess up is only a $50 part.

They are all pretty universal in build quality (rightly so at $700+) so it mostly comes down what you think looks best and has the accessories you want.

Appreciate that. I must admit that I am struggling a little bit. Getting new tires tomorrow morning. Then I want to think about a bed rack for a possible roof top tent. Looking for those bed rack that have the highest static weight. My current thinking is to solve that first and then move on to the roof rack. The other strategy ... get the roof rack, use the bed as storage ... and use my good old fashioned ground tent to get going. Decisions, decisions. Thanks for your thoughts on the roof rack install. Good point. If I screw it up I can always get a new rubber strip. Knowing me, I might order that first. :)
