We just discussed this last week or something. I wear one when i ride.
I have a titan sport jacket. Works well for either. Bit hot on the dirt. I dont really wear gear on the street and stopped wearing it under my jersey in the woods though. Keeping cool is just as important as staying protected. Being hot wears you out in the woods and dehydrating. Certain gear also limits mobility so i stopped wearing hard knee guards and wear soft troy lee ones.

Guess I’m not ordering one any time soon then  I’d like to do my forks but I’m not taking my damn fairing off. Fuuuuuck that. Chinese knockoff POS lol. I do need to figure out something for the top of the right fork though. The sun hits the chrome and blinds the hell outta me. Might just fingernail polish it black

Haha... I remember you describing the install for your China fairing... the Memphis one .. literally clips on.. looks very simple... once my forks are done ima snag it.

I mean... you can always take the polish off if it looks like shit

It’s the same system as Memphis, but their tolerances and parts are garbage and it’s not easy to work with. At least it’s sturdy once it’s on.
Ya that’s what I was thinking. I couldn’t plasti dip it too I guess. Just newspaper tape off the entire bike lol

I’m out riding around, looking for a good vantage point to see comet Neowise tonight, and had a close call.

I was riding through a suburban/residential area. The speed limit is 35 and I was doing somewhere between 35 and 40, center lane position. No other traffic.

Another guy on a sport bike was coming up behind me, and then suddenly he overtakes me (in one lane) on the right, between my bike and the curb. It scared the shit out of me, it happened so fast.

I got pissed and let him know about it at the next red light. Dude had a shitty attitude, acting like a hard-ass or something.

I don’t give people the finger very often but I sure as hell did tonight. I’m still pissed.

yep, this is the exhaust Im getting. Looks great! I had one on my 07 Speed Triple too. Theyre expensive though. $500 for that little slip on - basically from the brake pedal back

Yeah it's weird coming from the street ATGATT life. Back when I was a kid I only wore a chest protector and knee pads. I'm old now and don't bounce back as quick. It's one of those things I think I'll prefer to have early on and gauge my rides and dress accordingly. A hot day in the pine barrens sand, probably good in a jersey. North jersey technical rocky trails? All gear. But of course this is speculation. Def also want to get a hydration pack too.

See the variety of terrain plays a huge part. Where you think it might be more useful in rocks is also where itll exhaust you more. Youre not moving fast so the heat stays contained. More-so with a camelbak (as ive been comparing on/off). Im much cooler without the bak, air actually flows through. With it though im drenched in sweat. I wear a fanny pack with water bottle if im not wearing a bak. Just something youll have to figure out with experience. Sure rocks hurt without pads but crashing in general does. Get experience you crash less, but i try to do harder stuff at the same time. Youll figure out what works for you.

    Well here's my back-burner project:

    Jki3PCdAsErFBoHThK6OzqFuKntYKluHOqta3DqI_84b38f01397a399fd834ceaef37d43fca4f1f102.jpg

1980 Yamaha XS1100 I'm converting to a cafe bike. Since this photo was taken I've welded on the rear hoop and done a little wiring clean-up. Wiring isn't fun so it kinda is staying on the back burner......

Nice project. I'm jealous you have disc brakes all around, my 81 CB has a single anemic disc up front and drums in the back. Although the back actually works really well, I can lock it up whenever.. front, not so much.
