Awe. I feel like they work those guys pretty hard. They just don’t have time. It’s when an honest mistake is made, but nobody owns up to it or helps fix it. It’s the fn service manager that can kiss my $$

What does the sidewall say? It will state the load rating and max PSI.

    Hi Tara,
Welcome to the best damn Tacoma forum on the interwebs :hattip:

    What tires are those? Duratracs?

If so, I ran some on a Tundra and then later on a 4Runner.

The Tundra they were ok, but they were E rated. I put C rated on my T4R and at 30k they were shot. Every other outside edge block was wore down. Exactly like @AtomAnt said, rolling on Super Swampers pulling up to the stop lights.

My last Taco I switched to Nitto Ridge Grapplers, E range. Unfortunately it was totaled before 40k miles but they were wearing much better. I have Cooper S/T Maxx now, E range. And the have at least 12k miles on them and look brand new.

Like @Foster1 said, go back and ask to speak to the service manager. If the service rep attempts to "handle it" fine, let them do their thing. If the outcome is not positive, then politely ask for the service manager and don't leave until you talk to them. If that person doesn't agree with you then tell them you want the entire thing documented in your service record history, and you want a copy, either printed or emailed. Don't leave without it. Then let them know you are going to contact Toyota Corp and make sure they document it on your Toyota owners account information because it's not normal.

If at any time they offer a free alignment, let them do that and tell them to add this to the service record along with your detailed reason for the alignment.

If at any time your requests aren't complied with then walk into the main part of the dealership and ask the person at the desk that greets people to call the general manager for you. Ask them to escort you to their office first, then once there, explain the entire situation.

Stay in control. Getting upset and them seeing that gives them the upper hand. If the GM says let's go talk to the SM, politely ask that they come to the office you're in. You don't want the overall confusion of the service area undermining your mission. If the GM insists then just say ok but you'd rather it be more private.

Your goal is to either get an alignment free or replacement tires. Make sure the SM or GM know you'd rather let them make this right before you escalate it to contacting Toyota Corp.

They might say they have to bring in the regional service rep to look at the tires because they don't have the authority to allow anything free. That will suck for sure but just say ok. Tell them though you want a loaner because you don't want to add any more miles that would put you out of warranty.

I hope you get this worked out. Dealership are the Devil. They recently tried to charge me a labor fee when they failed to reprogram my TPMS sensors.

    Yea right.

This is what I needed. Thank you!!!!!

    They are Goodyear wranglers.
I don’t really know what my goal is.. I don’t know if replacing the tires is fair. I mean I have driven 14,000 miles on them....

    I have a couple recommendations.....

I would increase the cold tire pressure a little. I would run 33 PSI. When the tires warm up, your tire pressure will increase to around 36 or 37 PSI.

Get an alignment at a reputable off road knowledgeable alignment shop. The place I take mine to charges $100.00 if an alignment is needed. I have seen a few postings here on Tacoma World from people who report that their brand new vehicle required an alignment. It does happen, and not only with Toyota vehicles. With a tire wear issue and 14,000 miles on your Tacoma I think it's a good precaution to have the alignment checked.

There is a Florida specific area here on Tacoma World:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/florida.45/

You might post there seeking information on a quality off-road friendly alignment shop. Yelp and Google user feedback posts are another good reference.

Let us know what you do and the outcome!!!!! Welcome to Tacoma World and congratulations on your Tacoma purchase. They are great trucks.

I don't understand why the spare was in the bed, ever. That's a serious safety liability on them.

Like another said, you should use whatever is printed on the white label on the B Pillar. Open the drivers door and standing there, on the right hand side of the painted metal part by the drivers seat. Remember, you can only check and fill the tires when they're cold. The air in your tires expands as it gets hot and down there it can be as much as 5 more psi.

    Also.....

Have you created an online account on the main Toyota website? If not, I would strongly encourage you to do so!

The website is Toyota.com. In the upper right area of the webpage there is an "Owners" link. It takes you to https://www.toyota.com/owners/
You can create a login and enter the information required for your Tacoma. This will give you access to any recall information and to all service records for your vehicle for services performed at any Toyota dealership repair facility. Repair access applies to any new or used Toyota vehicle you own.

That only applies if the replacement tires are P rated OEM equivalent tires.

I drove up on the spare. Then bought a new tire they installed. They left my spare in the back of the bed instead of putting it back where it was supposed to be

Max psi is only for extreme towing. Use what the manual or the label on the door says.

Keep in mind, too much air and the tire tread center will wear faster, and you're going to compromise traction control in both wet and dry conditions.

Too little air and the tires will cup causing them to wear the edges faster. Your traction is also compromised in this condition. You'll also negatively affect you MPGs.

This is not easy to do unless you have a 12v tire inflator. But if you add extra before you go, say to 40 psi, you don't need one. Again, your tires need to be cold.

    Here, watch this.
