I’m actually a quality engineer so the vast majority of my time is spent with regular production Vehicles. I only play with the prototypes when a new model production cycle is starting.
Feel free to dm me, and I can answer any questions you have. The Crosstrek and the Forester are the best vehicles we produce in my opinion, and the Crosstrek is the better buy. If you’re interested in the Crosstrek, I highly suggest you wait a little bit for the 2021 model year to launch soon. The 2.5 out of the Forester will be an option for some trim levels and it’s worth getting. It’s a significant power increase and no change is fuel consumption.

I know they have manuals for the 2020 and that's what I want but I'll likely have to order it. I'm not 100% convinced I trust the CVTs yet. Also, if I keep it as long as I intend it will likely be my child's first vehicle and I would like them to learn with a MT.

I think I saw that the MT will not be available in the 2.5 and that all of the 2021 models will have the nanny stuff. Do you know if those are accurate?

The MT is being phased out on all lines that aren’t performance oriented. The CVT is more efficient and more reliable. The 2.5 will only be available with the CVT.

You’re too late to order a 2020. We’re already producing the 21 MY. I don’t believe they’re accepting orders for 2021 Crosstrek's at this time, but a dealership might be able to trade for what you want. I’m not involved in sales though so I’m not certain about that side of things.

Hey Jeremy! I hope all is well with you and enjoying the new location. Probably not so new now. I love my wrx. I was putting around 20k miles/year on her until covid hit, then the brakes got slammed on that and she became a driveway queen for a while. I still get her out now and then, and they let me back to work 2 days every other week, but the miles have definitely dropped off. My TOB is now making noise as well (2018 with around 43k odo), so it definitely sounds like a common issue. Last time I had it in for standard service I asked them to take a look at it under warranty and they "couldn't replicate". Of course... Other than the TOB I have had no issues. Been a great vehicle and still enjoy going outside and firing her up. My inlaws have a 2017 Outback and a 2019 Impreza sedan. No issues on either of those. The Impreza had a scratch on the dash board when they bought it, and the dealer said they would replace it. They took it in for replacement, and the tech broke the new dash putting it in. So they had to order another and finally got it fixed up. I have stayed far away from the subie forums. I don't want to get sucked in like I did with the taco. My wallet cant handle it at the moment. AOS was the first thing I did, and not much else.

I am hoping the redesign will bring back the hatch. If it does, I'll swap out for one. I always liked them more than then sedans.

Things are going good over here. I bought a house late last year and have just been working a lot. I've been working through all of this, but I finally got to start traveling for work again. I couldn't travel for 4 months.

Since you're past 36k, I'm not sure the dealer would do the TOB replacement under warranty. At least that's what the dealership in MD where I bought my car and had it serviced told me at my 42k mile service when the first replacement TOB went bad in under 6k miles. The second replacement bearing started making noise again in under 1k miles, and I've been driving on it since. I passed 59k miles when I left the dealership on Friday.

I purchased that extra warranty (I had several quotes and made them match the lowest one I had) that's good up to 100k with a $100 deductible I think. So eventually when they replicate the issue, I'll just have to pay the deductible. It's getting more frequent. Used to just happen when I had first fired up the car for a short while after. Now I hear it fairly regularly. Are there any aftermarket ones that are of better quality? I remember URD had one for the 6 speed tacos since it was an issue with those as well. At least I think it was URD.

Enjoy the new house. I wish I could buy one. But on one income in NoVA, aint gonna happen. I saw some new condos and townhouses being built down the road and took a peek at the site out of curiosity. 500+ for the condos, high 600s for the townhouses. That was starting prices with basic stuff too without any upgrades :annoyed::bananadead:

Damn man... That sucks on the prices. Luckily, housing prices are cheap out here. I'll PM you with WRX info. There are some parts that are supposed to fix the issue.

If anybody out there is looking for a long bed grey softopper, lemme know. I haven't put mine on in probably a year, and I'm tired of looking at the rails on my truck. PM me if that's something anyone's after.

Exploring the Greenbrier valley in West Virginia this week. Started out yesterday with a 6 mile hike in the hills and I think this afternoon I’m going to go visit the caverns. This place is beautiful...

Ha. The truck spent the day getting the air conditioning system recharged and checked at home today. Hopefully I’ll have some icy cold air to come back to!

If you have the time, the Luray Caverns in VA are worth checking out as well. They're less than 3 hrs from the Lost World Caverns.

I’m going to stay and explore more of this area before I go that far for more caves. Tomorrow, I’m going to see about renting mountain bikes and scheduling a rafting trip for Thursday. I might also try to see the Greenbrier bunker at some point, but that’s a little expensive and I might rather enjoy the outdoors.

35's, locking diffs, bead lock, more hp, better overall torque, better ground clearance, 10 speed auto and 7 speed manual trannies all factory options. Jeep has some real competition.

The new bronco obviously wouldn't fit my needs, but I'm glad that it's being brought to the market. Too many Jeeps are bought purely because you can take the doors off. Having 35's from the factory is a big perk.

I'm still holding out for a Toyota 3/4 ton with a Cummins inline diesel. I know it's a pipe dream, but let me dream! :(:(

The ladies in the plane were singing this as we came in to land after putting away 4 bottles of champagne during the 2 hour flight. Haha
I’m pretty excited for the Bronco. They had huge shoes to fill and I think they did a great job with it. At least it looks that way.
