Airsoft pellets

Anybody here ever use airsoft pelletes inside the tires for balancing? Just got some new 32" BFG Mud Terrains, and buddy said a lot of folks use airsoft pellets to help balance at high speeds. Googled it, and found a few people who have tried it, with varying degreees of success.

Well. I did it. For my new 32" BFG Mud Terrains. 8 oz of airsoft pellets in each tire. Hit the highway on the way home, up to 130 kmh. Way faster than I can legally drive anywhere on the Island. Not a shake, not a shimmie. Way better than before, when @ 60-80 kmh the wheel would shake like crazy. And it works even better on bigger tires. Ever try to balance a big set of mudders perfectly? Not easy. This, gentlemen, is the shit!
Go ahead. Read the links. The only people who think it's a bad idea are the ones who haven't tried it.

 

Dont they make noise?

 

When rolling them from the tire machine back to the truck, you could hear a slight "shooshing" sound from inside. Can't hear a thing inside the cab. Some people have used stell or copper BB's. Those would make a racket!

I just dont see the need for the bb's i guess I wheel my truck all the time and my truck drives straight all the time....

 

Never knocked a wheel weight off while wheeling? Or spun the tire on the wheel while aired down? Or lost a chunk of tread on sharp rocks? Or pick up a clump of mud on the inside of the wheel? All of these will throw your wheels out of balance. These beads make the tire self-balancing. No need to take 'em off the truck, get 'em re-balanced, put 'em back on. Not such a big deal if you have a tire machine in your shop, but if you gotta pay each time.....

being a somewhat expert in airsoft bbs, I wouldn't recommend the .12g ones you get in the 5k tubs at wally world. Spring for better quality .2g from a reputable source like airsplat or something.

I used EQUAL in my Jeep with BFG M/T's (35x12.50x15). Worked frigin awesome.
You just need to make sure you have the proper amount in each tire.

I play airsoft a lot...and I wouldn't recommend them in the tires. Why? Because they'll break up into pieces and turn into small particles, chunk up when they get wet, and eventually won't work. They're not designed to be thrown around at speed bombarding against each other for hours / days / weeks on end. They'll eventually disintegrate.

 

I use Dynabeads in my bike, but they make em for everything. They work awesome. http://www.dynabeads.net/
