This is a strange one. The brake lights work fine unless I have the cruise control on. Then they don't work and the cruise light flashes after pressing the brake pedal.

Well seeing how pressing the brake suspends the cruise control seems like working as intended, with the flashing cruise control light. Does it resume fine? Did someone tell you that your brake lights dont work when you are in cruise because that would be difficult to find out.

Also I dont have cruise control so I cant really say if thats how that actually works in a 2nd gen

What year model is your truck? And how do you know the brake lights dont work, have someone following you?

Sorry it's a 2007, and it's the brake lights the tail lights work. To use cruise control again I ha e to turn it off and back on to stop the flashing. And I had my wife press the brake pedal and stood behind and watched. Had her turn off cruise control and the brake lights work... so strange

Dont think Ive ever seen the cruise control light flash. Push the cruise control stalk to arm the system and turn the light on, push again to turn off in my 2012. Maybe these trucks have a lower speed limit under which the system doesnt work (and flashes the light..)?

Ok so googling the issue someone said to cycle the emergency flashers on and off a few times and see if that helps that the circuit runs though there. Figured easy enough to try it and now its working like nothing is wrong at all. Idk if it's a fluke but it was doing it everytime the cruise control was on and now working as intended.?

Maybe it’s telling you that cruise control doesn’t do anything when you are parked.

The issue happens when driving. I took it down the road everything working as intended after turning the flashers on and off a few times.... goofy

Sounds like a brake light switch that might be on the verge of failing. Do you ever have a hard time getting it out of park when depressing the brake pedal?

I agree, there is probably an issue somewhere other than the CC.

Do you have a check engine light?

If a malfunction occurs in the vehicle speed sensor,
stop light switch assembly or other related parts
while cruise control driving, the ECM actuates
AUTO CANCEL of the cruise control. Then the
CRUISE MAIN indicator light starts to blink, to
inform the driver of the malfunction. At the same
time, data of the malfunction is stored as a
    diagnostic trouble code (DTC).

No DTCs. It's a 6 speed manual so no issues with getting out of park. And tapping the brake pedal will always cancel the cruise.

Maybe it is an issue with the clutch Switch...

Don't think so the clutch switch seems to work fine.
