1st Gen Double Cabs

all right all you DC owners, I've posted this question in other areas and have had little to no response. 03 DC V6 Limited TRD, installing Bilstein 4600 shocks front and rear to keep stock ride height. What springs would you recommend. I've found some good deals on Genuine Toyota TRD and Non TRD springs. will even consider aftermarket, but I'm not looking at really cheap options. What springs are you guys using if your keeping your truck stock. help a brother out.

 

I'd just get the cheaper of the toyota springs.

 

If your truck is a TRD, I would go with the TRD springs to keep it stock as it likely came with them from the get go.

 

They are 18" Level 8 MK6s, with OEM TRD center caps

 

took some pics of my factory springs currently on the truck. 1st is the drivers side, 2nd and 3rd are the passenger side. Would you consider these springs worn out and replace them, or reuse them. Kinda thinking if I replace them with new TRD springs, then I know I'm good for another 140-150k miles. I have no doubt the shocks are bad just from all the bouncing around it does on rough roads, and the nose dives it does in dips in the road. I called a couple of Toyota Dealerships, and they couldn't even tell what weight the springs are rated for. Said Toyota doesn't give the engineering specs for them. Thanks for the replies.

 

mine is also a limited Trd 2002 , i just changed the shocks to KYB gas but kept the same Coils... whenever I reach the point of needing Shocks again, they I will evaluate the options, didn’t know that TRD has spcecial TRD coil but in your case I will not get anything else than TRD then or upgrade for FOX and alcans leafs If i could budget that set up. Now if the reality $$$ calls for 4600, definetely take the TRD coils.
93K on mine, regardless of miles and years if they are good then dont replace them

Wheel spacers? What is the backspacing/offset of your wheels?

My wheels have 0 offset with 4.5 back spacing.

 

Took a long hard look at my cooling system this morning. Everything looks fine. Transmission fluid is pretty and pink. No leaks on the radiator anywhere, no milkshake shit going on. So for now, I'm going to keep an eye on things, and if the Transmission Temps start creeping up on 200-205, getting my truck home and ordering an external cooler. Also thinking hard about just reusing my stock TRD springs for the front, and getting that job done next week. I stayed at a holliday inn last night, and I woke up a car mechanic.

Yea! From what I have seen from people with similar setups is that the spacers should help with fitment issues.

I did the pinch weld mod already but I'm still getting some rubbing on the rear side of my inside fender, as well as the plastic from the bottom corners of my front bumper though.

 

Love it. I mainly liked that it hides and protects the RTT but I've recently learned after rolling up the sides for safari mode offroading that having the sides down also saves all of my gear in the back from getting covered in dirt and dust. The RTT bars were kind of a pain to make myself as far as getting the dimensions right for the softtopper to fold forward but still maximizing bed space but this combo has been working out perfectly for me.
