I just installed Deaver J66’s with a ubolt flipkit and Durobumps hoping that it would make my rear ride smoother... absolutely not. The bumpstops now sit about 1.5 inches away from the top plate... so I’m bottoming out at every bump I go over, even on the road. How do I fix this? I was thinking about trimming the bumpstops down... but part of me says that’s a bad idea. Thoughts?

The rough ride shouldn’t be coming from the bump stops. Most likely you don’t have enough weight in the bed for the leafs and your shocks are likely not valved correctly for your setup (if you bought them with off the shelf valving).

I would sell that flip kit and get one from Archive Garage, or swap out the bumps for some Super Bumps. The one you have is going to severely limit your bump travel.

With any other leafs that might be the case, but these deavers are designed to work with no weight in the bed. And my problem is that the bumpstops are so close to the top plate.

What’s wrong with these ones? And I’ve had super bumps in the past with the same problem...

are those bumps hard plastic or polyurethane? Cause they should compress to half their size if they are poly which doesn't affect travel at all.

They’re polyurethane. And that’s what I thought initially too. But even when I would flex out the rear suspension they would severely limit my travel to the point where the other tire wouldn’t even tuck in the wheel well

Flip kit looks fine. Stops seem a bit tall for that application. Are you sure they sent you the correct ones? Those don't allow for much uptravel.

They are 4.25 inches tall. They also sell 3.5 inch tall ones... that’s why I was wondering if I could just cut that .75 inches off of these. Would that work?

I’d just call and get the right ones.

The only thing with that, is i don’t know if they’ll take these back since they’ve been on my truck already...

I think I'm in the same boat. I have the 4.5, they look too tall. I haven't opened them yet though at least.

If they sent you the wrong ones they should. Just call. They can tell you what’s up.

-J66 are super flexy; they need the proper valving
-Durobumps are to protect the shock; they straight up tell you they are not a replacement for air or hydro bumps

Yeah, it could be the spring rate. Shocks do need to be valved with the spring rate in mind. I’d still call. If you can’t figure it out call Accutune. They may be able to help you with custom valving if they feel there may be any issues.

Let's ask @Plastics Guy if this is normal. This size says for 2" lifts.
