Just be aware that every hurricane that moves up the Atlantic coast seems to hit eastern NC...hard! Any that make it up to Virginia Beach are significantly weakened. I've been here (VB) since 2001, and I think we've only had one storm with hurricane strength make it here. Most drop to tropical storm strength (or lower) as they roll across & hammer Eastern NC.

My advice that if they move to the Eastern NC coast, they better have some serious insurance coverage, and a "bug out" location far away from eastern NC.

They've been in VB since before me (born in 96). They also have a house in South Bethany Beach, DE. Between the two, it seems like there's not a year that goes by where one of them gets hit with something.

That being said, they definitely are going to be more exposed down there. At least they'll have some idea of what to expect though.

Last year was my first year being away from the East Coast and man, was it weird not having to think about hurricanes, or any other heavy hitting storm (depressions, nor'easterns, etc.)

yea man it’s amazing here. Even more so if you’ve got a boat or access to one.

and no, I own an addiction treatment program for young adult men here in Wilmington.

One of many trips in the ditch. Longest of my trips ... spectacular. Others have done more than I have.
    You should go.

Not yet but I’ve got a lot of boxes to comb through. Moved from a 2600 sq ft house to a 1500 sq ft house so I had to box up a lot of shit. I haven’t forgot though. Just haven’t found it yet. It was 18 months and three houses ago (hurricane got one, short lease on another, and we bought the home we are in now) so it’s been through some moves lol

Alright dude.. I’ve torn through everything. At some point during the move my wife must have determined that spare fly didn’t make the cut and it got tossed. Sorry for the trouble

You can ask anyone that knows me.. I don’t throw away gear. To a fault.. reference my last post of having to go through so many plastic containers of gear. But I cannot find it anywhere. When the wife gets home I’ll ask her and see if she cops to it.

if I do happen to find it, I will let you know and you can have it as a backup. I have zero use for it but couldn’t bring myself to toss it because it’s fairly valuable (and I don’t sell shit on Facebook or CL because it’s a pain in the ass)

I have enough stuff to prove I do not throw away either.

Well tomorrow is the day. Climbing 4k feet in ~5 miles. Shouldn't be so bad. I'm going super light. Taking only a hydration pack, Puffy clothes, and lunch. Oh and can't forget the fishing pole, that's super important.

I’ve had to do an unplanned overnighter in pretty much exactly that scenario. Was glad to have a space blanket sleeping bag and a little food along.

We're leavin the trailhead at 6am. We also have a wedding to get to at 5:30. Going to be a very quick hike. Hike up, take some pictures catch some fish, take a 20 minute snooze, then hit the trail back down. Hoping we don't get a storm or anything up there.
