Looking for a car for my wife. She has shit box kia. I want a car that is 4x4, has room, and is easy to drive. I honestly wish I could dish out 35k for a new highlander but I cant. So I'm looking at other options.

They’re reliable. Plenty of grunt. Terrible on gas. The air ride on them is getting old (mostly limited had this setup). So air bags failing is not uncommon and not super cheap to replace. The compressors I’ve never seen one fail.
05-07 had air injection. These we do see fail. And the truck goes into limp mode. Not a cheap fix unless you do the Hewitt air injection bypass. They’re solid trucks. Just be ready for abysmal fuel economy

Oh. And timing belt is a must to keep up on. If thag belt fails, it’s not like the tacos, it’ll need an engine

Perfect info. My wife honestly drives like 8-10k miles a year. So the savings on the truck can buy a lot of gas in my mind.

Not saving a whole lot, that thing is way overpriced, even if it is cherry. 1st Gen Sequoias have shit resale value compared to trucks or the 4 runner. Should be able to get a clean 1st Gen for 6k or under

Yeah, I thought that too. Maybe he thinks its worth more because it looks in really good condition with low mileage for the year.

Yeah. I think so too. If you were me, would you be looking at a highlander then? The older body styles are just atrocious to me.

The old highlanders are great reliable little “trucks” aka lifted Camry. The MZ motors have some pep and are reliable. If you go a bit newer the 3.5 is also solid.
