I work at a welding shop so any help you need in that area let me know. I can pass on what knowledge I have as well as let you use the equipment I have.
And I have also thought about building some bumpers myself.:D

As far as buying a welder from harbor freight save the money for the truck. I'll let you use my lil Lincoln 110 welder any time even just to practice. If you need something welded a little thicker we can stop by my work and get you fixed up. The welders at harbor freight are what I would consider 'disposable' no parts available and they don't run worth a sh*t.

Yeah man.. Don't buy a HF welder.. A friend of mine made that mistake and then ended up getting a Miller after the HF one stopped working, and couldn't weld anything thicker then sheet metal! Hahaha I've got a little Hobart 135 and it is great for what I use it for... I used it to build/weld motor mounts and tranny mounts on my old green Samurai and did great with the thicker steel I used. Plus, Hobart is a cheaper welder and it even uses a Miller gun and inside components!!
I've got flux core and no flux.. I like to run gas because it is cleaner, and a stronger weld I believe.. But I'm all out of argon for now, should go get that bottle filled!! Haha

Ahh Friday, a day off. Not been a terribly insane week finally. Left class early monday, didn't have class yesterday.

The itch is comin' on, it's been awhile since I've really done anything to the truck and everyone is talking about their toys. Tint was the last bigger thing, slapped a couple stickers on in between.

I think I'm gonna hit my wheels up very soon. Probably drive around a couple different place and check out some spray paint. Gonna do the dark grey wheels and then go with black center caps, I could do the caps today.

I'd like to do my wheels at work that way I can do all 4 at once. We'll be dead as shit tomorrow with the OSU game.

I know all about the itch... I'm itching to get some different wheels. I like the idea of putting FJ wheels on my truck and have found a few sets, but cannot really decided which ones. What does everyone else think, 16 or 17 inch FJ wheels or get moto metal 955s.

though i think the anthricite ones would look more awesomer with silver. just a sidenote: 16" tires are cheaper than 17"s.

^ I really like the 16in FJ's but finding them is a different story. I've looked on the FJ forum and CL and cannot find anything.

i was lucky and got mine before they became scarce. there are some out there now, but it seems most people won't art with them cheap. i think i paid $124 a piece for mine from TRDparts4U.

Edit: They have some in silver for $132 ea right now, but says limited supply.

Thanks guys! I was only planning on using the HF to learn on but if you all are willing to let me use yours until I save the money for a real one I will just do that. My grandpa has an old Lincoln but I have no idea if it even works any more. Its been sitting in his garage for as long as I can remember.
I definitely like the 16" Fjs. No Moto Metals! :puke: too many people around here have them. BBBBBBRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOs

Were you able to us your factory lug nuts/TPM?

I know alot of people have the moto metals, but I have to say I think they are one of the best looking aftermarket rims. I know BBBBBRRRRRRROOOOOOs have them, but I'd like to think that my truck looks better than all theres, just my opinion.

I like both of the FJ wheels. I'm not a fan of the moto metal at all. -Wade-

They are kinda cool, but I like just standard American Racing black wheels that everyone has, or fake beadlocks. Had a set on my last TJ and I had more people tell me they liked my wheels then anything else.

Yea, I don't have much love for the Moto's either sorry man. BUT, 16" FJ TRD's FTW!!! Or the 17" FJ's powdercoated.

If you decide you want to make bumpers and need a 1st gen, I'll donate mine! :D

I've found some new 16in TRD FJ wheels on Ebay for cheap, I'm going to call and see if my dealership will match the price so I dont have to pay for shipping. Now I have to find some tires. Anyone know what size I should go for?

31's would look good. I have not paid attention to what size will fit without trimming and all that though so idk if 31's will fit.
