affordable lights?

Hello,
I'd like to get a couple lights to put up front for some extra illumination when offroad etc. Would driving lights or flood lights work? With all the different options, I was wondering what would be good for my needs. I'd like to keep it below $150 for two ok lights, or around that much.

I bought 2 harbor freight lights (6" about $10 each) and converted them to 55w HIDs from DDM Tuning.
They are very bright and work very well.

where do you get 55 bucks from? what brand of hid?

Thanks guys, these are some good ideas.

 

Kragen HIDs are around $100 apiece, and have the ballast mounted inside the light. You can do Hella 500s with HID conversion for a little over $100/pair.

Hella: advantage - price, and you can do 55w HID, disadvantage - wiring and hiding external ballast, and kinda worthless without the HID conversion

Kragen: advantage - ease of mounting/wiring, nice pattern, disadvantage - price

You could always do Hella 4000s or Light Force for around $100/light, but that's non HID, they're dang bright though.

Kragens might be an idea.

I like the idea of the Hella 500's. Man, I wish those Hella 4000's were closer to my price range.

What is the difference between hella 500 and hella 500FF?

Shoot, if I went with the plain 500, I'd almost like to get the black magic version:

But it's not really worth the extra money for the black color.

Since the FF's and normals are so closely priced, I might just grab the FF's when I'm ready.
