School Makes Boy Take American Flag Off Bike

DENAIR - 13-year-old Cody Alicea rides with an American flag on the back of his bike. He says he does this to be patriotic and to honor veterans, like his own grandfather, Robert. He's had the flag on his bike for two months but Monday, was asked told to take it down. A school official at Denair Middle School told Cody some students had been complaining about the flag and it was no longer allowed on school property. "In this country we're supposed to be free," said Cody. "And I should be able to wave my flag wherever I want to. And they're telling me I can't." Cody's grandfather says the school was concerned about racial tensions or uprisings because of the flag. He feels if there was really a problem it should have been brought up two months ago, not during Veterans week. "No action should be taken. We don't want any repercussion," said Roger. "We just want Cody to be proud of what he's doing."

There are too many cases like this. "Racial tensions or uprisings"?????? Is this our country or what. If our flag makes you want to create a uprising then get the hell out.

There should be a Constitutional Amendment that says the American Flag can not be banned anywhere within these borders.

It's not a Amendment to the Constitution, but Congress has addressed this issue, kinda. The Freedom to Display the American Flag Act of 2005 prohibits HOA's and other residential organizations from banning the flying of the Flag so long as it is in accordance with established guidelines. I doubt anyone has considered that a public school would forbid a kid from flying the Flag.

Obviously, the school is ashamed of this country and knows nothing about it. The flag is not racist. In fact it unites ALL races that live here... united (United States).

Very sad... I suppose if the kid flew the Cuban or North Korean flag he would get an A ???

Thats like when Obama rejected the Confederacy month. He was talkin out of his ass when he said that It would bring up problems in the black community.

We were confederates long before the civil war.

We were confederates the second we left England.
