At that point I’d rather leave it unlocked and have them get in, just so they didn’t destroy my tailgate and cover.

 

If the value of the items is less than the value of the damage I usually dont lock the tailgate. But I usually dont leave things back there.

This was precisely my brother’s method after his car was broken into two or three times.

He simply left it unlocked with nothing at all inside, not even change in the ashtray. To his point, it was easier to just let them look around inside as opposed to replacing another broken window or door lock assembly.

If they want in the car, they’re going to get in.

 

I had a milk crate stolen out of the back of my truck im like wtf. Seems like having a tonneau cover peaks people interest to see what's under it lol.

Well it happened at Lowe’s or Homedepot. I hadn’t opened the bed so I think it was a random thing as nobody saw me open or close the tailgate.

That's why they thought you might have guns or rifles in the bed and once they got it open, they noticed no guns.. they went like "fuck it" and left.
