I split the difference between hip and elbow. Arms comfortable angle down but not so I have to bend over. Have back and nerve issues so the less I can bend down or up, the better it works for me.

I'm going to set up my chop saw at 36" this week and use it for framing , see if I'm ok with that

So I'll use the chopsaw at this height for the rest of the week but after 1 day I think 36" will be just fine

After seeing comments I checked the equipment height in my shop. Here it goes:
Big table saw with unifence on a equipment dolly - 38”
    Portable table saw - 36”
Compound miter saw table on casters - 36”
Portable miter saw on folding table - 38”
    Router table - 36”
    12” portable planer on table - 38”
    Work table - 38”
    Moveable work table - 36”
10” midi lathe (center height) 44” and it’s a little too high
I am 6 foot tall and 38” is a comfortable height for me. Maybe this will help with your decision.

I’ve seen a few like that which used a couple of scissor jacks from a car. Made it easily adjustable.

Would one of these work for you or does your work exceed the weight capacity?

This is a jobsite bench , it usually gets set up and stays in one spot for 10 months

those things are good if you need to pack up , move and set up a lot but they are kinda flimsy for framing and there is no table for putting a stop block on to cut multiples

I just finished sanding and finishing 1,800 feet of quarter sawn white oak.
We just spent three hours putting new felts on all of their furniture but the sad thing is their dog is going to scratch the hell out of it in a week..

My first project. Father in law helped, borrowed my brother mitre saw and sander. Not perfect but it was fun.
