Further to my original post (about a possible move to CO and whether I would need 4WD or not) if I keep the 2WD I might want to fit a shell. On most of the mfrs websites they don't have my truck covered. I have an 07 double cab long bed (in silver). I have searched TW and am always looking on craigslist/ebay for used ones.

If anyone has any info about the model numbers from the big mfrs (Leer, Snugtop ARE etc) that will fit my truck that would be most appreciated. Better still, if you have one for sale hit me up!

I saw a pic of one on here a few weeks ago, I think it was a Browning special editon - was it a Leer 100XL? It looked great and had a rack on top.

I can tell you that the LEER size code is a 77TCDC, but that info probably won't help you in finding one (more of a mold #). The available models can be found on there website, but you probably know that.

The Leer fit chart says 2005+short bed, that is yours, and mine. I have a 100R. The other size is the extra short bed. Hit the picture you will see two listings for double cab short and extra short..... http://www.leer.com/toyotaproducts.html _MG_8384_edited-2Large-2_61375c8363bbcc375092ce37720bbafbdd9d6632.jpg

Oh I see, that's where I was going wrong. So my Taco 'long bed' is regarded by the shell mfrs as a short bed because it's short compared to other truck manufacturers beds? I was wondering why there was no reference to Taco long beds on their website. I guess a 6' bed is regarded as short by Ford/Chevy standards.

    Thanks Rich!

If you call a local dealer of any of the brands you can get a ball park figure of where to start as far as cost/features.......The 100R is about $400 less than the XL100 etc....Rich
