I say yes, but in the opposite direction of normal MTBs to a degree. Having a lighter DH bike feels like its harder to carry momentum through the chunky stuff. Maybe its all in my head

Fiancé got me a sweet new fanny pack for my birthday. Bike shop threw in the 2 water bottles for free too.

    Happy Birthday!

Let me know how you like the Bum Bag, I couldnt get that type to work with the waterbottles. Wasnt comfortable and the weight of the bottles kind threw me off unless I alternated sips of water from each side to keep balanced.
    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    Happy birthday, homie!

I have that same Savu hip pack and it's the tits! Easily my favorite method of water and snack portage while riding.

    Happy bday Scotty!
I’m still not 100% satisfied with the dakine hip pack I have. The one sided bottle holder doesn’t bother me. More-so that the storage volume is slightly lacking for some rides. But seldom ever lacking enough to justify a backpack.
    The search continues.

Try the Savu. Seriously. The bottle holders can unsnap so they sit flat against the hips for smaller rides and the whole thing cinches small to your waist. I noticed my tiny little Dakine HotLaps 2L more than I notice the Savu which is considerably bigger.

Weird question, do you keep it over your shirt with shirt tucked in? Or under against your skin/shorts?

I run the hotlaps 5l and I'm real happy with the volume. It also doesn't bother me when it's mostly empty. We all have unique bodies though

Definitely over the shirt, but no need to tuck since the waist belt holds your shirt in place. I do occasionally find the bum bag pulls my shirt tight against my shoulders/back and it's annoying.

I have the Backcountry Mid Mountain. I'm pretty happy with it, but I haven't used the water bottle holders yet, so I can't comment on how it feels with bottles.

Hey guys, I’m looking to put some single sided clipless Hybrid type pedals on my Gravel bike. Rides by myself are more fitness oriented and I like to push myself which is why I want clipless for ample power/pedaling efficiency, and riding with the fiancé on bike paths or by the beach are more relaxed. Does anyone have any experience with any out there on the market and can shed some light? I do realize they will probably never be as good as full clipless ones.

Was looking at the Crankbrothers Doubleshot 3 but my research leads me to find that the Xpedo Ambix are a better option across the board.

I’ve always loved my Xpedo’s I have on my mtb

The fit of the 2L hotlaps works for me, so I'd assume the 5L would be similar. Any bottle loops on the 5L? I'm kinda partial to bottles vs bladders.

That one looks pretty neat. Its the same volume as my current Dakine, but it does look to be utilized differently which could be an advantage. The single review that stood out as a killer for me is that there is 'no bottle retention.' That feature is borderline mandatory for a trail pack in my view. Admittedly the retention thingy on my current hip pack is only working at 50% after breaking on its maiden voyage.
