Coming from the perspective of a recent seller it's really easy to get fed up with low ballers and shit offers. You may not think it's a shit offer, but 1k is 2/3rds of his original ask. When it's already a low priced item, asking for $500 less is a fucking insult.

idk the thing is 9 years old and msrp back then was like 3000 bucks so 1/3 of the price after a decade aint too bad... its a none street legal machine and regardless of how clean it is one can only assume the hours/miles at best

the point for me IMHO as a buyer is to find the seller who is most desperate for a dollar.... in order to do that you gotta offer low and work your way up accordingly

emotional buying is a sellers best friends

desperate sellers are a buyers best friend

plus the other thing is, spend enough time on CL and you will in fact see the sub 1k dollar bikes come and go, all the while all those 1500 bikes stay for sale month after month..

Cool story. An offer is an offer. As a seller I just ignore the low ballers. No reason to be insulted.

So much this. I don’t care if I hurt a sellers feelings, I am not shopping on craigslist of all places to pay top dollar. If you don’t like getting low offers don’t post on CL, easy as that. As a seller they can choose to ignore my offer or make a counter offer. I never offer what I am actually willing to pay for the item from the get go, that’s just stupid. If I miss out on something there will always be other deals out there.

I don't think thats a lowball. At least they didnt offer less than half. I joke with those guys. Or just say lol. But a couple hundred off isnt bad. Just depends on how long its been for sale.

I offered 1900 on the civic, and the guy was asking 2400. Still got it

The state safety inspection and emissions check on the Taco and Mustang expired back in March. I don’t really care to be honest, but I know I will get pulled over eventually.

I’ve been in front of a cop almost every time I ride without plates. Never been pulled over. Right now I’m sure things are more lenient though. I really only sent mine off because I got a letter from HD financial saying they don’t have the title still and other shit so I figured I should take care of it now lol

Just a sweet ass looking bike. I wanted that exact bike right there.

But I needed more power. That and not being too mechanically inclined, the maintenance for valve tuning is quite a few bucks.

Agreed. It's the art of the deal. I asked $4000 on my VFR, the dude showed up handed me an envelope with $3600 in it, which i didnt know until I counted in front of his buddy while he took a test ride. He came back from the test ride, unaware I had counted the money, and walked around the bike and made it seem like he was having a hard time about the decison. I had his money in my pocket already, he had the keys, I had a bill of sale written up and wanted the bike gone, so I said it's yours for $3500 knowing he came there willing to spend $3600. I honestly thought it was a creative way to negotiate.

If I am firm on the price, I say so in the ad. I disregard people who dont understand what firm means. Otherwise, lowball offers and negotiation is part of buying used stuff.
