    Indeed.

Here in PA we had a taste of freedom for about a month. It was nice hitting some local restaurants again, but that all getting rolled back today with new restrictions.

On top of the one day per week furlough, for 16 weeks (at my day job), they laid off 65 people in network about a month ago. Then, last week ... closed 20 facilities in the US on top of that. Where I work is safe, for now ...

Getting out has been nice here. Mostly just paddling and biking though. Yesterday, Erica tried a restaurant for the first time, other than take out. She was pretty happy about it.

Wow. 20 shops down? That sucks. Hopefully you steer clear and the special project more than makes up for the days off.

Hey Rick, I’m so glad I got one of these from you! One of the nicest mods I purchased for my Tacoma. When I get another truck, this knob is coming with me. Thank you again!

Yeah, I'm certainly not hurting right now. If I did get laid off, 0 debt other than my house and a healthy emergency fund. Not going to grow the shop as I had originally planned, but perhaps next year.

    Thank you! :)

True story, I was polishing those from about 11am to 6:30pm yesterday (okay, not straight through).

The Delrin knobs are (by far) the easiest to make, but absolutely brutal to polish them.

Fine scotch-brite (purple), 500 grit emery, 1000 grit, 1200 grit, 1500 grit, 2000 grit, 2500 grit (wet), 3000 grit (wet), cloth w/ jewelers rouge. Then, I need to clean it out of the knurl and engraving with a little brush.

It took me a long time to figure out how to get them looking as they do now. @subrat helped with that, indirectly.

Stainless steel polishing process: 240 grit emery, 500 grit.

I asked around in the professional circle about polishing delrin. Most said something like "re-machine it!". Haha, either that or ... "Can't be done". Persistence is what it takes. Even with all that you need to watch the heat so you don't melt the dust back into the surface.

But yes, absolutely the same result just shifting your truck for a while.

Interesting. Sometimes, it just takes a bit of inspiration. I'd post up those beautied to show off the polish.

Its been a while! 2 years? The aluminum slowly polished over time which is nice. The delrin ring has held up perfectly as well; no chips, play, cracking. Still is one of the best things done on the interior.

For whatever reason, my phone doesn't do great knob pics. This was from April.

Jeez, yeah ... two years + 2mos. I need to stop and smell the roses at some point, time seems to pass much quicker while keeping busy.
