We're half way through the Strava Trek Challenge, and I'm on track to beat my mileage from last year. Rode 612 last year, and I should be in the neighborhood of 700 miles this year.

Not bad for a old fat guy...lol

What particularly fails with the other manufacturers? The clipping in mechanism? I’m fairly new to the clipless game so I know very little in terms of what companies have done what. The Xpedo’s use the SPD system and are adjustable and light

No idea what fails on other brands, but I like Shimano too. They are durable, but not too expensive.

Side note: I have SPDs on both my mountain bike and my road bike so I only have to have one pair of bike shoes. I also like being able to walk when I get off my bike, so mountain bike shoes and SPDs won out.

Thanks ! Thats good to hear.

Im low-key hoping i love clipless so much i start to want clipless instead of flats for my mountainbike as well. So eventually thats probably what ill be going for if i do do that. Still, kinda of scares me being clipped in on trails but hopefully this will get me more comfortable with them altogether and eventually will make the change for that bike too.

My biggest suggestion is to adjust your SPD release where your foot releases easy, then loosen it a little further. You need your clip to release when you want it, so "looser" is better than "tighter." Generally speaking, your clips aren't going to release unexpectedly in the normal pedaling motion...you have to kick your heel out to release it. So if you're riding and your foot keeps popping out of the clip, tighten it a little. You'll eventually get to the point where you're comfortable with the release, and your feet stay clipped when you want.

This is more of a "trial and error" procedure, so check the release while your bike is stationary, so you can hold onto your truck bed. Make sure you're parked where you can wheel back to the truck in case it doesn't release...lol Just loosen it a bit and try again. And again... You'll know when it's set properly.

With that in mind, periodically check the screws holding the cleats to the bottom of your shoes. They may occasionally loosen where the cleat will rotate on the shoe, making it more difficult to release. Realigning it again, then tightening it down will fix that issue.

Once you go clipless, you'll never go back! Enjoy!

    Pretty!

Transition has some nice bikes. I've been looking at the new Spur.

I'd rock a new Spur in a heartbeat if I wasn't on a saving spree lately. Heresy I know, but I might sell my stache to pick one up next year when they start hitting the used market.

Spur. Spesh Epic Evo. Yeti SB115. Litespeed Nolichucky. This is my shortlist for September bank account drain. :)

Thinking about getting a small frame bag for phone and tool storage while doing shorter mountain bike trips that I don’t bring my osprey on.

Anyone here running a similar setup and have a recommendation? The mag tank top tube bag seems like it would work well but honestly is bigger than I need
