Lucky guy, Mike. I get in trouble if I spend more than a day every couple weeks tinkering on my ‘stupid’ truck.
You guys are going to have some fun with that rig. What gears?

I lucked out and found a set used, with lockers, ARB front, Elocker rear, 4.88's for $600.

Nice, I got a good deal on a set of diffs with 4.56 and an ARB aft, so I am going to get the R & P swapped with 4.88 before I install them.

Removable mudflaps are hung. Now to swap the power steering pump.

And rigged up the spare tire. Actually, rigged it up for two spares.

Power steering pump and rack gave up the ghost. Pumps changed, now into swapping out the rack.

And as I had a spare ARB bumper, I swapped it for a couple things. A mean green alternator, 220 amps, a warn winch line for the RC9.0, and ARB bumper buckets and LED signal lights for my grey ARB bumper. I’ll be getting at the big three upgrade, and mounting the second battery in the back end.

It’s a Rebco box that came off an 80’s toyota pickup. I bought it from a toyota guy in BC, it was a good 8 hour drive from my place to grab it.

On trail, Johnny was behind me, and stopped me. I’d lost my gas tank skid plate bolts. Luckily, one of the other guys, Hayden, was packing random Toyota bolts, and we got it back up and tightened. Obviously gonna have to go hit everything again, and make sure all is tight after the last two trips.

Having a mat is a great idea, I hadn't thought of that.

Hey I've been following your build on Instagram for a while now! I didn't know you were on TW! Love the build!

I was curious though, when you had the frame out why didn't you LT or SAS? It seemed like a great time to do so. I was just wondering if you see an advantage with the stock suspension, especially with as much wheeling as you do?

Keep up the great work, can't wait to see what's next!

I don’t want a sas truck. All the sas trucks I’ve seen here either use a mini truck axle, or one tons. With the mini truck axle, suddenly you’re 8” higher than I am for either the same size tire, or a 37”. If on one tons, I lose my width advantage on these overgrown and washed out trails, where narrow works so well.

Long travel is too high maintenance for me. Uniballs don’t last in my climate. For the extreme price of a long travel, I don’t see an advantage for my wheeling style.

Now, if Marlin will get their act together, and release their RCLT for a 1st gen, I’ll jump on that like I do on free bacon. I really want to try this system out!!

And the last reason, I drive 4-600km to trailheads from my doorstep on the prairies. So I like a comfortable, easy running truck, that I don’t have to put extra attention into driving, and is under the radar driving in BC, where cops are VI and ticket happy!
