It's nice to see someone who not looking to mod every single thing on the truck. Of course there's nothing wrong with that, it just seems like you are a unicorn on Tacomaworld for not doing that. Viewing these forums sometimes makes me forget I don't need to have the the things that others have.

I'm currently accumulating all the OEM parts necessary to install fog lights on my SR. I purchased the oem lights from a TW member for a good deal. They look to be brand new (or only slightly used). Nitoris write up makes it easy... especially if you have the convenience package. I bought some film to apply over them (golden yellow) and after heating and stretching they looked hazy. I wound up grabbing this from Amazon.
    20200717_150059.jpg

It laid down nice and dried crystal clear. 6-8 mist coats and now I have yellow. I'm itching to get the rest of the parts I need. Picture isnt the greatest , but I'll post up once they're installed... whenever I get around to spending money on all the crap I want. This place is dangerous. It's like another monthly bill, the more I lurk around the more I want to buy.20200717_150933.jpg

Thanks, well for me it's a truck first, consequently the six foot bed and access cab. I like that it looks good and wife was ok with me getting the one I wanted. I already have hauled all the wood for a 12 x 24 deck, a half yard of gravel and 1600 or so pounds(in one trip) of concrete mix and blocks, plus various other items for yard projects etc. My first truck was a 1970 Datsun 1600 ( I'm an old guy now I guess ) so this is way over the top for me. I'm not into taking a 30K truck down the sides of mountains thru brush etc (not criticizing those who do, just not for me) but like having the V6 and 4WD capability when needed.

    This.

I'm in the same boat. It's a practical vehicle capable of just about anything I'll be doing. River rock, gravel, mulch, fill dirt. This truck has already saved me $200 worth of delivery charges I would have incurred. Congratulations on your purchase. This is exactly why I bought a no frills sr. I'm gonna keep this thing mainly stock only planning on functional modifications and trying to stall all OEM where its cost effective.

There's always the stock rigs thread over on the 2nd gen section. Occasional BS, maintenance talk etc. Not a whole lot of 'modding' talk, just people who enjoy their trucks. I enjoy it

Yep makes sense. The practicality got drilled into me by being raised by depression era (1930's) parents. You they all have the same powertrain , just not paying for the extras if you don't need/want em. One other inexpensive mod so to speak is to make a dog platform in the access cab, makes the dogs day to go for a ride so gotta get that done.

Lol. Dont get me wrong, wheels and tires were a completely unnecessary mod that I did to make my truck look like a TRUCK. The little "offroading" I do is completely feasible with the stock 245s. They just look make the truck weak. When I picked it up in March, my wife was at the dealership with me and said -- that's your truck???? It looks so wimpy.... I said don't worry itll look like my other tacoma soon enough.

Some unnecessary mods are necessary. I just dont plan on making this a habit. From here on out it's all about function and convenience.

Are those the SCS five stars? I don't think mods are bad by any means, just an addictive slippery slope for me personally lol

Did I say that I really LOVE this truck. It has so much technology, it doesnt rattle over bumps, it has working AC. I've had 4 tacomas (all first gens) I have one that needs frame repairs 96 (250k), another 02 that was my dd and I gave to my son (200k), and my OG 04 (475k) before my son rolled it 3 times. I've been driving a tacoma for like 20 years -- never thought I'd buy a brand new one after my 04 was destroyed RIP.

Yeah scs f5. And yes -- slippery slope I've gone down with every sports car I've ever owned. I sold my "nice weather " sports car to give my son my 02 and buy this. I'm gonna try and stay practical and keep this thing stock for the most part. Love this thing. Hopefully I can get 475k out of this one lime I did my first

I'm in the same boat as far as functional mods, only aesthetic thing I've done is the grille, which was just to get rid of the chrome toyota badge.

So far I've done ceramic tint, Diode Dynamics led map and dome lights, Weathertech mats, Expedition Essentials 3TPAM, Tacoma bed mat, 255 85 16 Cooper St Maxx, also have Anytime Backup Camera kit and Meso Customs puddle pods on hand waiting to be installed, and waiting for Level 8 MK6 wheels to come in, which are both aesthetic and functional because I currently rub UCA's at full lock.

Will be lifting, plating everything underneath, getting sliders, regearing/adding a locker, on-board air, and adding a light bar and fogs.

Nice truck. My son is saving up for an sr sx. Its totally worth the the extra money you pay for what you get in return..... now I really want white. I didn't have a lot of time when I bought, so I got stuck with black. I really wanted white.

Hi all, these are great looking trucks! Here's mine...only things I have added are WeatherTech mud flaps and organizers in my glove box and center console. Oh, and I installed a gas cap holder. Waiting on a behind the seat mat. That may be it as far as any add-ons but time will tell!

I wasn't a fan of white but the white does look great with the black grille, black wheels and your tinted windows.
